August 18 for MS
Enotify on the 8th for ES

It almost always comes the Friday before school starts so they don’t have to deal with high maintenance moms calling and complaining for at least a couple days

FCPS here.

Our school said Aug 16 for teacher notification email, Aug 18 for "teacher walk" (when teacher comes by house), and Aug 19 for open house.

Do you go to one of the small schools with only 2 classes per grade that serves one large neighborhood? I can't even imagine our school doing this.

August 15 for "Welcome Walk," August 18 for Open House. Notification probably is anytime from August 12-15.

Teacher walk plus open house? When do they prepare for class?

Our school does teacher walk as well and we are a fairly large school. It’s fun, if you’re not home, they leave a letter for you. I bet they just want to check on everyone’s living conditions 🤣

I’m a teacher who does a welcome walk. I have no complaints—it’s really fun. We have all of Wednesday with no meetings and have nothing scheduled after the open house on Friday morning. And unless you’re on a specific committee or sped team, there are no meetings on Monday (except a big morning meeting). I’ve never had a problem getting my room ready. Same for my teammates.

Our old elementary school (also FCPS) posted lists on the door at the day of open house. That was a bit stressful and annoying. I like knowing a couple days in advance.

Agree. I hate the door method because we vacation the week before school starts and my kids have to go to school not knowing who their teacher is on the first day.

You also check SIS, right?

PP here.
I believe it’s fun. I wasn’t questioning that nor was I thinking you would complain. I was just curious when you had time to plan and get the room ready. It’s good that they give you most of the day on Monday and Friday along with all day Wednesday.

Our ES doesn't inform the parents before the open house. You have to go to the cafeteria and get a card from one of the aides with your kid's assignment for the year. The open house only lasts 45 minutes or so so it's really pretty chaotic because of the long lines and parents/kids trying to get the card so they can meet the teacher before time runs out.

I have no idea why our school does this, but it's pretty much the worst.

Because then they only need to filed messages from parents who want a class change for one day.

Our school doesn't do a Teacher walk. I think we get an email about the Teacher but since we are a language immersion program, we know who DSs Teachers will be, the question is do he have language in the morning or afternoon. We just go to the corridor with his room and look at the door. There are only 2 Gen Ed classes so they do the same thing.

Don't expect anything before teachers are under contract again & working. Enjoy the last hurrah of summer!
