People in the street = crap in the streets.
She's right to be worried. I used to work in some rather forbidding places overseas, and people crapped outside due to a lack of modern plumbing and irregular service for the port-a-johns. The feces becomes airborne and leads to illnesses. You can get an eye infection, esp if you wear contacts. It's not something we, as a society, should take squatting down. This is a public health issue, not a partisan talking point. |
+1 most definitely |
False, according to the OP, they don't exist. |
I'd argue that our cities were not built with a large homeless population in mind. We either need to tackle homelessness or start putting out port-a-johns throughout cities. At least one per every 10 homeless person. Its basic infrastructure at this point. But we are just frozen, in denial, trying to pretend the poop away. |
Increase taxes or do whatever is needed to provide toilets. If they're too mentally unstable to use a toilet, then provide institutional care. |
+1 |
It's illegal to put mentally ill homeless people in institutions. This is the reason we now have a large, mentally ill homeless population. |
She must be smelling the stench from San Francisco where she lives and confusing it with that of NYC. |
Love the Wash DC tent cities too. You guys donate the nice stuff! |
Oh man. America has human poop everywhere |
The private security at every store front is insane No too. Why bother even operating there. |
Spoken like a true Christian |
I'm saying that needs to change. I don't think letting them wander around homeless without food and medical care is good or helpful to them. |
PP here. I am a Christian, and I work with children and teenagers with special needs. I'm not suggesting that they be locked away somewhere. I do think appropriate institutional or group home care would be far better for those who are unable to take care of themselves. |

Last year it was San Francisco. According to Fox, everyone was pooping on the street.
Yeah, it’s the Fox go-to put down. So tiresome. |
