Seems like kind of a big missed opportunity, both from a fundraising perspective and from a elevating the long course season as something special and worth it perspective. I know those JO shirts are highly coveted haha.

When there are some meets were hosts aren’t stepping up, we need to remember that when teams do offer to host. Complaints a few days ago about divisional relays, now this. Yes, kids love the shirts and they should be offered - however no shirts but a team to run the meet is more impt.

Comparing a PVS champs meet to NVSL divisional relays is a bit of a stretch. There are large clubs involved here who make a ton of money off of their athletes (and their parents), it shouldn’t be considered stepping up, putting on these meets is part of what you do as a club.

In 2019 they were taking orders one day during the meet and the shirts were shipped to you a few weeks later

Seems like a huge missed opportunity! Anyone know if there's swag this weekend?

Comparing big meets is fair. Regardless, you'd rather the meet, than no meet, right? I know that for some meets this year we were waiting to have a team host it before we could plan for it. While my kid would have loved a shirt from a big travel meet, having the meet be available is THE most important part.

No, comparing a rec summer swim league meet hosted by pools in the league to a championship meet involving multiple large clubs and put on by one of said clubs, many of whom are flush with money because of how much it costs to be a part of the club, is not remotely a fair comparison. The NVSL inflated sense of importance is real on DCUM.

Surely it’s not that hard to arrange for a vendor to come in and do shirts, right? Should be a requirement of hosting. Even our tiny team managed to bring in a vendor for our flagship swim meet.

Sad a PVS Championship meet doesn’t have a t-shirt. Agree this is a highlight for qualifiers, especially when there are no awards.

The usual vendor was at the PVS Open Champs (UMD) today and I have to say if they could only be in one place, that’s the wrong one. Not so many of the fastest older kids are buying these anymore.

I agree, my kid is at the open meet but isn’t interested in getting a shirt, but did when attended the 12u meet.

They had a vendor in the parking lot last year. I know there are all sorts of supply issues, so it’s possible they couldn’t find anyone.

Update: a woman sitting next to me said that the center (venue) said no shirt vendors can sell on the premises.

Wait why do you think there’s no awards?

From the meet announcement:

For 11-12s, medals will be awarded 1st through 10th place for individual events and 1st through 3rd place for relay events. Ribbons will be awarded 11th through 30th for individual events.
• For 9-10, medals will be awarded 1st through 10th place for individual events and 1st through 3rd for relay events. Ribbons will be awarded 11th through 20th for individual events.
• High point awards will be presented to the male and female athlete with the highest point total in individual events in the following age groups: 10 & Under, 11-12.
• Relay events will not be used to determine high point awards.

Why can’t they do pre ordered shirts that are distributed by team? The vendor could pack them up. Teams could take orders.

This. When they found out Claude Moore wouldn’t allow a vendor on-site they should have just pushed out an online ordering option.

I feel like they should do this now. We would order a shirt after the fact…
