Tips to stop nighttime binging

I started doing intermittent fasting and "closing my window" and starting my fast at 7 or 8 or whenever works 9 out of 10 times. The 1 out of 10 is usually when I've had a couple of drinks.....

Why don't you eat something with more nutrient density???

You could try half a banana and a half tablespoon of peanut butter. It should fill you up, it’s nutritious, and it shouldn’t mess with your sleep.

What works for me is changing my life so I'm happier overall. What do you currently find unsatisfying about your day to day life?

When I feel good about my life I'm not looking to feel good from my food.

Go outside for a walk. Go to sleep earlier.

What are you eating during the day?

Overly restricting during the day, labeling foods and even yourself for what you eat as good and bad and making some food off limits tend to lead to this sort of behavior.

Op here. Sorry, was off for dinner/bedtime/etc. it usually starts with a small treat- a popsicle or a piece of chocolate. Then it’s like a trigger goes off and I end up eating half a box of cheez-its or something similar.

OP here. Yes, there is probably something to this. My life is pretty go go go- 2 little kids, petty busy job, family and social stuff. After the kids are in bed and the kitchen is cleaned up I feel like I need som kind of indulgence/escape. I used to have a glass of wine but it’s too easy for that to turn into 2-3

+1

I am a night time eater. I can eat an entire cow for dinner but still snack at night. It's just the way it is.

I have to agree with the PP. If it's not there, you can't eat it. I have proven to not have any self control so I don't buy chips, cookies or ice cream anymore.

I tried this but I end up bingeing on my kids’ snacks (goldfish crackers or fig bars)

Op here. What do you do with the other half of the banana?

I stay far away from the kitchen. Then if I feel my will weakening, I take magnesium or Ashwaghanda to help me fall asleep.

I have a nightly treat that I enjoy, but I wouldn't want to eat a lot of in one sitting. Ice-cream or chocolate would be so hard to resist! I enjoy the Trader Joe's peanut and date bars. They are really good, but so sweet because of the dates that I doubt anyone could eat more than one.

I also clean up the kitchen before having it, then eat it in bed with a glass of milk and immediately brush my teeth.

Ice water. Popcorn. Tea. Gum.

This happens to me when I haven't eaten enough protein/fat or I haven't had enough water during the day.
