What makes you think God cares?

I could never understand when people would say “God never gives you more than you can handle.” Are the people dying in Ukraine, not to mention people dying in conflicts in Syria, Libya, and the rest of the world not getting more than they could handle?

That's just to make people feel strong when things are really not going their way. Like God is on their side, or just testing them. It's a way to insert God into the situation when it seems like no "higher power" would inflict such punishment on such a good person. It serves as proof that God is with them, at a time when he seems absent.

It's not that there is no god or that god doesn't favor you, it's just that God has singled you out because he knows how strong you are. It puts a positive spin on a bad situation -- if you believe in God.

Of course not -- nobody is. The above is just what people SAY not what's actually true. Tt's putting a positive spin on a bad situation, trying to make God look good in the process.

People usually don't say that about little kids with cancer. And remember, just because people say it, doesn't make it true.

You are a part of God (source, creator, nature, spirit…..). Just like the waves cannot be separated from the ocean, you can’t be separate from God. You are the hands, heart, and voice of your creator. You are an eternal spiritual being having a temporary physical experience on this earth. We are here to learn and to grow. We always have free will. Your creator cares about you just like you care for your own children and for others. Your heart hurts for the people of Ukraine just as God’s does. Our job is to learn to be more loving, more compassionate, more forgiving. The only way we can do that is through difficulty. Nothing grows on top of the mountain. It’s deep in the valleys where real growth occurs.

Your higher self exists separately. You dispatched this part of yourself to earth for the purpose of your soul growth.

I don’t get it. You say our soul is eternal and we’re here to grow and learn. How is that possible? Suppose we live 80 years. What percentage of eternity is 80 years? It’s undefinable. It doesn’t exist.
