Its really the condemning, moralizing, eye rolls, shaming and guilt-tripping. Is this how FCC wants to raise its kids? Noonan is quite clear that he is the Dr of FCC and everyone will bow to his politics.

Everyone can spread it and kids are super low risk so if kids are young and healthy why does it matter if they get a COVID vaccine? We got our kids vaccinated to keep them from having to quarantine and deal with many of the rules but probably wouldn’t have if the rules were different. Are we really going to be the people who slap anti-whatever labels on others for asking questions and promoting balance in a constantly evolving situation? Yikes guys. Families need to make the best choices based on what that looks like for them and we should be giving space for that not moralizing and condemning people. This thread is disappointing.

Here's why it matters.

Vaccinated people, including kids, are less likely to get Covid and - importantly - spread it to vulnerable family members or teachers and school staff.

If teachers and school staff get Covid, it's disruptive even if their case is mild. They're missing school, subs are hard to find.

So -- if kids are vaccinated, there will be fewer sick people, including teachers, which means less disruption to schools. And if your priority is keeping cools open and as normal as possible, then you should be in favor of getting as many students vaccinated as possible.

That is why it matters.

As far as I'm aware, that's not true. Vaccinated or unvaccinated spread Covid at the same rate. The vaccine only protects the vaccinated person from the consequences.

No. There are way more cases of covid in unvaccinated people versus vaccinated people.

I don't think I would even really call her anti-vax though and it troubles me that asking questions or expressing concern gets someone smeared as 'anti-vax.' I've seen several people post thoughtful articles and comments questioning the efficacy of masks. Why do liberals want to shut down discussion and research? That seems anti-science for sure. Isn't the hallmark of a liberal scientific mind being open to new information and data and changing views and practices accordingly?

The posts on Twitter are not the same as the FB page. Whoever is posting on Twitter is posting some questionable stuff to the OPs point. I agree that now that schools are open and will stay that way the group has become a rightwing astroturf — making it seem to be grassroots credible community group but hiding the true meaning of their beliefs and intentions.

This org is a rightwing astroturf group. Block them and move on

Only in Nova would this Facebook group be called right wing. Makes me so glad that we pulled our kids from FCCPS.

I'm not much of a twitter user, but I just went through the feed and see nothing that is anywhere near remotely anti-vax. link to the tweet you are referring- otherwise this just seems like the ongoing campaign to smear the FCCp4s group and smash down any dissent.

Why on earth would you live in FCC with school-aged kids and pay to send your kids to private school? Seriously, what a waste of money.

You just proved our point--moralizing, judging and eye rolling...next!

DP and I too looked at their twitter and there is nothing there that constitutes anti-vax. 🤷‍♂️

Taxes are higher in FCC and the entire community is built around the public schools. I just don't understand why you'd pay more for a smaller house and pay more in taxes to live there.

NP. Because we did not realize until after we had lived here a while that it was not a good fit for our DC. I guess not all of us have crystal balls like you do.

Omicron has completely changed the game as far as vaccines go. NY and LA are some of the highest vaccinated cities and mask compliant with universal mask and vaccine mandates in place. They have had huge surges in cases that have looked exactly like areas without these mandates. Vaccines help prevent high risk people from hospitalization… that’s where they make a difference. People need to let this idea go that these measures stop this virus from spreading… it’s clearly not the case and I’m not sure how anyone that isn’t actively putting their head in the sand or only going to 1 source for all their info can still be holding on to stances from a year and several variants ago. Countries all over the world are dropping their mitigations. Countries all over the world are putting out guidance on not recommending vaccination for healthy kids due to the risk/benefit. Those things aren’t opinion or anti-vax it is just facts. Are Denmark, Sweden, UK, Finland, Norway, Iceland (pretty sure there’s a few more) all right wing astroturf countries who hate their kids and want at risk people to die? They’ve never masked kids in school and aren’t recommending COVID vaccines for healthy children… None of those fit the narrative around here. Are the evil right winger groups infiltrating these countries and out to get people all over the world? Lol. How does that argument even hold water?

I went through the Twitter account and it seems pretty disingenuous that people want to act like pointing out facts and pushing for normalcy for kids is some agenda beyond wanting the best for kids and families and sharing information so people are informed and maybe more at ease.

Frankly it’s exhausting and tiresome watching people act like they are winning some moral superiority prize in this town when really what they are doing is operating off the projections of their own fears and anxieties as opposed to actual risk. Most people have been extremely kind and supportive the past two years, including our family who do want others to feel safe but, how long are we going to keep holding people hostage and judging because group think is keeping many totally out of touch with how COVID currently compares with other daily things we face? It’s become ridiculous. COVID isn’t going away. There will always be at risk people, just like there was before COVID. Vaccines put those at risk in-line with other viruses they have always faced. Kids under 5 aren’t at real risk. RSV is scarier. People want to move forward with their lives but are afraid to do so, not because of COVID but because they don’t want to upset others or be judged for it and that’s toxic as hell. It needs to stop.

Might want to recheck the twitter page. They might not be anti vax but they have gone whole hog anti mask and are clearly a right wing astroturf group posing as run of the mill parent group.

I’m trying to understand how you define ‘right wing Astro turf’. Typically that would mean someone from the outside pretending to be a parent group. What you have here is a fccps parent group run by actually fcc residents with opinions you disagree with. In terms of that being ‘right wing’. Well Leanna wen, the wash post, the New York Times, the Atlantic, are all saying it’s time to stop mandatory masking of kids in schools. Not exactly what is traditionally considered to be ‘right wing’ sources.

Is the FCC SB really going to rescind the opt out tonight? They voted 5-2 in favor for it when cases were so much higher, they know Chap Petersen will vote with the Rs to overturn the masking for anyone who wants to opt out? What about the IB trait of Principled? It would be embarrassing if they rescinded especially give that its obviously for political reasons, also they know basically no one will opt out right now due to the famous FCC shaming and social exclusion, nose up....

Its really embarrassing having my kids see such hypocritical adults in lead positions....
