Would you be suspicious if a rich neighbor started driving a Chevy pickup truck?

Those trucks when fully loaded cost $70K-80K. They are the Rich Guy Hobby Mobile.

It's working class cosplay for these dudes.

Sorry, see above. It's the lowest trim, not one of those luxury rigs. And his daily driver prior was a new Range Rover. And we're friends with the wife on Facebook and can see older photos of them in luxury sports cars and luxury SUVs when they're at their vacation homes. Not like bragging about the cars, you just see them in the photos sometimes. And he's talked to my husband before about his love of cars.

Are you worried that they are suddenly....poor?

Do you have real reasons to be suspicious? Strangers coming and going from the house at all hours of the day and night? Lot of trash on trash day? No discernible source of big income or wealthy family in the background?

Otherwise, it's you - not him. Either you have a mental issue or you're a busybody.

A lot of people love pickup trucks. If you go to Vail, Aspen,…. The entire states of Texas and Montana, hell yeah, it’s the default car of choice.

No, not really. It just sticks out and seems really odd, to us at least.

Maybe he wants to haul some stuff? For a hobby like carpentry or gardening.

Lots of people call base trim drivers versions. If he actually likes cars, it's possible that he chose that trim line. I wouldn't be shocked if he has a lift kit, new suspension, skid plates... on order. They are hard to get right now and it makes more sense to overhaul a base model

Rich trustfunder, does not work a manual job, prior daily driver was a new Range Rover, multi-million dollar home... suddenly daily driving a bottom spec worker-truck-white Chevy pickup. Certainly sticks out, if nothing else.

Or is getting horses and need to haul stuff at his ranch?

Or he is going to modify the base truck and enter monster truck rallies. Lots of possibilities here.

No. We thought it was a loaner at first, so we thought nothing of it. But 3 or 4 months later he's still daily driving it.

I guess he just likes it. Why don't you ask about it?

Yes, I would watch that guy closely. He's nuts.

+1. Ask him and be sure to post his answer here.

Are these your neighbors. Maybe they are trying to clue you in on their financial situation. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1031690.page

I'd be suspicious he's a Republican if he doesn't work in construction.
