Would you be suspicious if a rich neighbor started driving a Chevy pickup truck?

Sounds like they went from leasing luxury vehicles (perhaps written off through a business?) to buying a vehicle. If they recently sold or closed their business, this could explain the shifty.

People tend to be more practical when they buy vs. when they lease.

Also, do they have a 2nd home? Out in the country?

People tend to buy a practical, base trim automobile for use at a 2nd home. A truck is popular if there's a lot of work to be done on the other property, hauling stuff, etc.

Not suspicious of any nefarious behavior, but he may be having a midlife crisis?

We got a large pickup in order to comfortably do long roadtrips to family as a covid precaution measure.

Don't assume.

Those trucks when fully loaded cost $70K-80K. They are the Rich Guy Hobby Mobile.

It's working class cosplay for these dudes.

Sorry, see above. It's the lowest trim, not one of those luxury rigs. And his daily driver prior was a new Range Rover. And we're friends with the wife on Facebook and can see older photos of them in luxury sports cars and luxury SUVs when they're at their vacation homes. Not like bragging about the cars, you just see them in the photos sometimes. And he's talked to my husband before about his love of cars.

Are you worried that they are suddenly....poor?

You keep responding but refuse to answer what's being asked. Suspicious of what? Say what you're thinking.

Trying to keep a lower profile. Not for safety or anything but maybe legal trouble and/or optics of appearing greedy and too rich at his day “job”.
