Your poor grammar reveals how little you value education, and how much you would benefit from it. You also profoundly misread the current political climate. Even very liberal parents like myself are horrified by the closure of schools for so long, and the last thing we want to see is a repeat of this. I am even willing to vote Republican if necessary to see the schools remain open, something I never thought I would say. The fact is that omicron poses close to zero risk for children, and is not much worse than the flu for everyone else. Closing schools while everything else remains open would be criminally stupid. |

Thank you for that insight - it's such a relief. I need to get a grip because the invisible map boundaries are force fields that should contain my thinking. Thank you for correcting my warped point of view. I'll be sure to have Google maps out and be very careful when I leave County boundaries to know when my kids are in danger from parents versus other children. |

Closing the schools does nothing to slow the spread. Omicron surged over the Christmas break. Virtual learning was a disaster from an educational and mental health perspective. Please just homeschool your kids and leave the rest of us alone. I want my kids in school, where they belong. |

I think the more ^^PP crazy liberals push their extreme agenda, the more they push many liberals away. Dems are splintering, like we saw in VA. That's a great strategy extremist liberals are using.... for the opposing team. IMO, the reason why extremist liberals will never win on a large scale is that they are too pollyanna and not grounded in reality. The need to think that anyone who disagrees about closing in person school is an evil Republican crazy really tells me that you're out of touch with the range of views people actually hold. And the Democrat are going to lose elections if they make the GOP the party of open schools. |

Christmas (e.g. Winter Break) is not evidence that non-in-person learning (not "closing"). Winter Break is evidence that when families and friends get together, unmask for a meal (similar to a lunchroom), they spread infection. It was a nice try though- keep at it! |

As a PP pointed out, the surge came during break; infection rate is declining. What would be the point of closing schools now? And again, just because people want kids in school where they learn their best doesn't mean people also don't want everyone to mask up. Do you think people won't be gathering together when the kid are virtual? I see teachers on social media posting about their gathering and traveling. Lost of people traveled all over and dialed it in last year. |

What do you think happens when you close schools? Do you seriously think that, after the last two years, kids are going to stop meeting up? They will meet up, unmasked, and meanwhile the spread in restaurants, workplaces, bars, and churches will continue as before. By now one-third of Americans may already have had omicron. On one hand it's okay for kids to unmask in school lunchrooms, no matter how many get infected, and not to close down; yet teachers are being told by MCPS and the Governor that this is all okay - but can't "gather and travel"? Inconsistent messaging leads to inconsistent results. |
