| Croissants are never to be served after breakfast. Quiche will not be eaten by those who have an aversion to eggs. Most people will eat pasta. |
There’s a delightfully annoying song by The Wiggles to help demonstrate the concept. |
It is literally just cut up fruit. I would serve a fruit salad, salad, rolls, and a selection of meats and cheeses (deli meat unless you are against that). They can pick and choose what to eat. |

The CDC has literally updated their website to state fully vaccinated people can resume normal activities. |
Don't worry, OP. This poster is simply a fear-mongerer. We hosted 3 days last week, are now 5-7 days out of all events, and are doing fine. I like the previous recommendation of quiche and fruit salad. You can make one quiche with meat and one veggie quiche. That, plus fruit salad, juice, water, and mimosa should be perfect! |
| I would serve lasagna with a garden salad, garlic bread, fruit skewers and dessert. I like to serve lasagna when I am unsure about when the guests will arrive. Since OP hasn't given any context, I am presuming these are people on an unpredictable schedule or arrival time. Another option for the winter is chili with either spaghetti or rice, salad, corn muffins, fruit skewers and dessert. |
| I would also serve lasagne. It seems to be a safe food that most people will eat. |
Lasagna isn't good for people with dairy allergies or gluten sensitivities. If she's trying to account for the possibility of food restrictions, she shouldn't make any sort of casserole. I suggested Mediterranean spread. But sandwich tray or other kinds of trays also work. |
| COVID with a side of Omicron? |
Most people consider fruit salad to be any blend of fruit, such as blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and pineapple all mixed together. No sugar, no gelatin: just fruit. Have you never been to Wegmans, Whole Foods, or any grocery store? Go to Wegmans and look at the fruit salad near the vegetable counter. It’s literally cut up watermelon, pineapple and other fruit mixed together. Are you dim? |
Says who? I’ll eat a croissant any time. I haven’t had one in years, but a croissant with chicken salad sounds good for lunch. |
I expect people to speak up if they have allergies or food restrictions. Why do you people always assume that people coming over to your house to eat wouldn’t speak up? I always let my hosts know that my kids are allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, and I offer to bring our own food if needed. |

Fruit salad is disgusting and should never be served to guests. If you want to showcase fruit you can make a beautiful fruit plate with artfully sliced fruit arranged side by side, not a disgusting bowl of slopped up fruit spoiling at different degrees of rapidity. And if you’re the type that adds some fruit juice or worse, honey or sweetener to it that’s even more disgusting. Seriously let’s put an end to this.
And OP is not asking if they SHOULD be having people over. They are asking, what should I serve? Stay on task, DCUMers! The answer is the one who suggested the Mediterranean platter or the soup and (regular green) salad option. |
Because OP said she wanted to make a meal that would work for a variety of food restrictions?? |
