COVID Cases at W-L Right Now?

Who cares? COVID will be here forever and everyone is getting it.

At this point, it's like doing harmful mitigation methods to keep the sun from rising. Get vaccinated and trust the vaccines because they do work.

I'm currently worried about missing out on life and the holidays because one of us tests positive, rather than the infinitesimal chance we'd have any complications (probably similar to the chances of us winning the Powerball 2 consecutive weeks). That's why we have a rule in our house - NO ONE GO GET TESTED!

According to what source will everyone be getting COVID? Did “everyone” get all the other communicable diseases in history? No, and we should still seek to prevent the spread of COVID. What a weird take.

The fact that everyone will be exposed to COVID has been common knowledge for a longtime now (I know some people are still in denial). Do you want me to dig up other quotes? There are an infinite amount of them:

"Eventually everyone will be exposed to SARS-CoV-2," says Dr. Abraar Karan, who's an infectious disease specialist at Stanford University

"‘It’s likely that everyone will eventually encounter the SARS-CoV-2 virus, much like most people encounter influenza and other respiratory viruses,’ "

Vaccinated or not, everyone is likely to get COVID-19 at some point, many experts say
'The idea that we’re going to live our lives without ever getting it is a fantasy — and a dangerous one,' says one epidemiologist

The NPR cite is about exposure not about actually getting Covid. Not familiar with the other sources?

The W-L girls basketball game for tonight (Friday night) was just cancelled. I assume due to COVID?

Either that, or due to the student fights after last night's WL - Yorktown boys basketball game. Either way, it's for safety.

They only cancelled the freshman girls game. Looking at the cancellation notice, it was Covid related.

Not freshman, but varsity.

So absolutely stupid. Only a handful of areas of the country are acting like this. It's completely insane, especially with our vaccine rate.

See above - everyone's getting exposed repeatedly to COVID. Trying to avoid it is like trying to avoid the sun rising.

Professional sports games are getting canceled and postponed. Are you living under a rock?

When players have Covid you cancel. Like PP said above, are you seeing what’s going on in professional sports? What an earth makes you so resistant to see what’s going on around you?

On the evening news, PG and Howard counties canceled all extracurricular activities through at least Jan 15. And PG is fully remote for learning.

Hopefully the numbers go down by January, so no other school system would have to cancel athletics again. Postponing a game here and there is a much more reasonable approach in my opinion.

PG County is 95% black and hispanic - equity!

Also, are bars closing here or canceling events? No.

Are restaurants close here or canceling events? No.

States in the south had their surge in the fall. There were no canceled sports.

Then why on earth is this being applied to the lowest risk cohort in 1 small county in VA, and ruining their high school experience? This is what the Arlington Branch COVIDians want (like Ventilation Woman, Lunch Petitioner and Military Wife).

ZERO COVID WILL NEVER HAPPEN. Please stop messing up kids' lives, trying to avoid a virus that everyone will get. No one else is doing this nonsense, except a few ridiculous districts. All of these efforts are for absolutely nothing and will not help one bit.

Don't you realize that these people are the true anti-vaxxers. They don't believe vaccines work.

They want 0 colds, which is what COVID is now with vaccinated adults and what it always was with unvaccinated kids.
