Why aren’t they asking for public opinion ? Are there polls going on some where I have not heard about?
The name of the city football team is important for metro area morale. The Snyder have made had so many missteps as Owners of the Red Skins/ WFT: they should be reaching out for public involvement and support. Here are the odds, I would give the top name picks for getting picked: • Red Hogs 10% • Defenders 3% (surely they realize this would make them a laughing stock whenever games not well defended?) • Armada 10% • Presidents 10% • Brigade 3% • Commanders 3% (also laughing stock if not well commanded) • Red Wolves 35% • Washington Football Team 25% (it sounds so boring, hope they don’t pick it) * new name not mentioned by Tanya Snyder 1% Something to look forward to in 2022! |

WF Team president Jason Wright has said the Washington Redskins new name in early 2022. Along with a new name, this football team will also promote its official logo. Some predict that the team wants to announce its name after the Super Bowl but will want to change before the draft. So we can expect to know the new name between February 14 and April 27.
The branding process involved 40,000 fan submissions, multiple focus groups, and digital surveys. Earlier this year, the team stated it has narrowed the selection down to three but hasn’t revealed them yet. Tanya Snyder only revealed those 8 names. It is odd that they are not revealing the final three. Maybe to reduce heated lobbying? RED HOGS The name comes from the nickname “the Hogs” for the WTF offensive line in the late 80s and early 90s. It is one of the best offensive lines in the NFL that helped the team take home three Super Bowls. “Hogette” mascot? ARMADA, BRIGADE, COMMANDERS, AND DEFENDERS These nicknames are all focused on the military. Coach Ron Rivera, grew up in a military family. He and Dan Snyder say they want to honor the military and Native Americans (much needed after former team name derived from Trail of Tears horrors). RED WOLVES The red wolf is an endangered species in the southeastern United States. The name Washington Red wolves reportedly received a lot of support and agreement from the audience. It does sound more catchy then the others to me. Will WTF’s final pick for their new moniker bring luck and a winning streak to the team as it did for the Green Bay Packers or the New York Yankees? Time will tell. |
Why? What a big mouthful of bland … how will the crowds chant “Go Washington Football Team Go” in a snappy way? |

Not pp, but we shorted it the wft and usually end up with wft by the end of a game. A generic crappy name suits this team pretty well |

Make it the Washington Democrats when the Democrats are in the White House The Republicans when the Republicans are in. Good for political toxicity, and twice as much apparel revenue opportunities. |
