If all costs were equal, would you rather your child attend a top public or top private school?

Yeah, but it’s not direct admission to McIntire unlike Wharton.

No way, never even heard of McIntire. What's that?

Great! You won’t compete for admission. Those who need to know, know. Get informed.

I actually think there's a lot of value in attending public high school, though I see the appeal of private high schools as well.

But I would say for college, private > public in terms of resources, peers, network, etc.

OMFG UVA boosters are relentless. You clearly did not understand the assignment. "If all costs were equal" is right in the title.

Your question has a false premise. What is the point of directly comparing better publics with privates if you don’t take into account cost? Of course, if you’re OOS, then it’s a more fair comparison.

Private undergrad, public graduate school (for anything but law, then any the highest t-14 they could into, whether private or public).

You seem to fail terribly at basic language comprehension. Is this a feature or a bug of a UVA education?

I understand the question, but you are an idiot. And, I’m not a UVA graduate.

How am I an idiot if you're the one that has difficulty understanding how a thought experiment works? You're free to leave this thread if you're not going to contribute anything remotely useful to the conversation.

I would do private for smaller schools. Afraid my kid will get lost in a big statue school.

^ This thread isn’t useful.

Agreed. I think the biggest draw of a private school would be the relatively smaller size and more focused attention. Don't think I'd send kid to large private school.

WashU, Emory , Rice are better undergrad schools than every public school.

This thread would be useful if it asked if one prefers public vs. private, assuming no cost difference. But, by noting specific schools, OP really wants to start another useless rankings/prestige thread.

Then ignore the body text completely. Assuming no cost difference, do you prefer public or private?
