Say, UVA vs WashU/Vandy/Emory/Rice?
Berkeley vs UChicago/Northwestern/Duke? Michigan vs Penn/Brown/Cornell? |
| I want my child to attend the best schools for them where they would be happy or successful. But, I'd pick Michigan over Penn and WashU/Vandy/Emory/Rice are nothing special. And, I think my kid would love Berkeley. |
| For many, the costs aren’t equal, and that matters. For VA residents, I would send my kid to UVA and save the money. If I lived in a state with mediocre state schools and had money to throw away, yes private would be nice. |
| Private. Same with high school |
| Would choose UVA McIntire over Penn Wharton for the price difference. |
|
Top, small private.
And I say this as someone who has attended both. |
| Whichever is best all around for my child. I don’t think you can make a blanket statement as to one always being better than the other. Michigan or Berkeley engineering, for example, are far superior to the private schools you have them grouped with. |
| Probably private unless they were science or math geniuses |
Yeah, but it’s not direct admission to McIntire unlike Wharton. |
| Depends on finances, where you want to live, and major |
OMFG UVA boosters are relentless. You clearly did not understand the assignment. "If all costs were equal" is right in the title. |
| Public. The working world more closely represents top publics. |
No way, never even heard of McIntire. What's that? |
| I could not care less |
First of all, the prompt was if all costs were equal. Second of all, even with the price difference, you'd be an absolute fool to turn down Wharton for either one of UVA's business schools. |
