Will Whittle be around next year?

They had a meeting for staff only to hear them out and really try to see where everyone is at? I wonder if a teacher can provide us with an update. Still looking for funds for payroll.

This has been a very slow moving train wreck. A parent who doesn't want the anxiety would have moved their kid to public school over the winter break assuming that they didn't apply out to another private last spring. Anyone still there is dealing with this by choice

It’s so easy to judge from the outside. But perhaps parents don’t want to stress their kids out by ripping them from their friends mid year. I for one am choosing to stick it out as long as I can not because I believe in the dream or CW, but because my kids genuinely LOVE their classmates. You couldn’t know unless you have witnessed it first hand. But this is a very special group of children with a bond I’ve never seen in other schools. We knew exactly what we were doing. And every day my kids get with these other children is a blessing to them. It will be hard enough to have to start over some place new next year. I’m opting to let them have this time with these children.

Makes sense. Friends are important.

Very sorry this happened for all of you.

As a student at this school, I can tell you that everyone who is still here isn't here by choice. Not all of us are able to transfer to a good public school, due to zoning issues and bad dc public schools in general. Many of the students who have left already will have to attend summer school at their new school, because they are behind on education. This isn't anyone but CW's fault. We came to private school for a reason, and its unfair other students are being forced into bad public schools.

Are students discussing CW and the school's demise among themselves?

Oh most definitely... as a student, I can say with confidence that there are none of us who are staying through the year are doing so for any reason other than not wanting to re-do our current grade or not having great options for public school. Manny Rivera actually held a meeting with the high school as part of his commitment to "keeping us updated' on the current situation, but since he struggled to answer every question, we're left to chat amongst ourselves about whether or not we'll even be in the building next week.

Judging by the fact that the s*** had seemingly hit the fan a while back, sounds more like a septic tank explosion has occurred...

They are now asking us to fund a teacher. They haven’t spoken about the loans we already made to them in December. They also aren’t telling us whether the school will be foreclosed on or if Superman is going to come in to save the day.

Ideally, families can contribute a full teacher share of $4,200 (2 installments of $2100 to cover the missed payroll on 2/20 and then the upcoming 3/1 payroll) or a half share of $2,100 (2 installments if $1050 on 2/20 and again 3/1).

They can’t pay the teachers but security will be back next week. Whoopty Doo!

Junior here…100% agree I don’t really have an option to transfer mid-year and I don’t want to repeat my current grade.

This is pure madness.... So Whittle is now a combination of "buy now-pay in 4 equal installments" and "Save the Children"....

Anyone who sticks around needs a sanity check

And to think this is the what the brain trust at the Parent Capital Strategy Committee came up with.....! All they're doing is allowing CW to extend and pretend his odious scam. And masking it behind doing whats best for the children
Anonymous
It's actually a brilliant strategy. Tell everyone that hundreds of millions are almost there. But just need a thousand bucks per person to tide us over. The person who made the analogy to the Nigerian Prince scam nailed it
Anonymous
Someone asked what his contribution was and one of the parents on the committee said “Chris sacrificed his house, virtually all his savings and his possessions for the kids, teachers and families of the school.”

What about every payroll from 3/1 until the end of the year, or are you just expected to pay $4,200 every two weeks. Will they ask parents to contribute pro-rated portions or rent too?

So, there won’t be a building soon, based on the read of the news. So, why keep this going any longer. Either pay the teacher to home school at your house or go to public school now. At least you will be out of this drip, drip, nightmare.

Is this in addition to tuition you've already paid for the year?
