McLean leaving FVU

If only select RL players were given GA1, who are the other players who go GA1?

It's pretty obvious. GA level is typically just Top RL, bench ECNL. At the youngest ages will probably be more balanced

Don’t tell the 2012 teams at Jeff Cup that

He has been moving around quite a bit. After being let go from Carolina or facing the possibility of being let go, he returned to McLean. He has submitted applications for numerous MLS positions. McLean / LW & JH show little concern for the players as long as they receive their salaries! We plan to depart from the club after a decade and having two children in the program. My sister and her children left already. More to come. We donated thousands in finances and time. Not a chance we do it for this club.

At MYS yes, because first team is RL Green. So I would assume the majority of GA team is RL then being white up to GA2. Makes sense.

My understanding is that they had a good number of outside girls at the GA ID sessions -- some NL reserves, GA players who want a change of scenery and RL players from other clubs.

New to the forum. Looks like this change to MLS Next is for the U13 and above.

1. If they are fielding two teams in each group (one for Tier 2 and one for NAL), in what league will the 3rd and 4th teams play? Asking regarding boys.

2. Can anyone help me understand what this change means for the rising U11/U12 teams? For example, in what league(s) will Green and White play? Asking regarding boys.

3. I saw a post above saying that they way they fielded the u13 and above NAL teams (i.e. "2nd team") was shady. I'm confused because they said that the NAL team would be selected via regular travel tryouts. Were they lying and just gave out offers after the Tier II tryout?

Is the new alliance good for FVU? Is every year this chaotic?

My responses (#1&2 from the town hall they conducted a few weeks ago):

1. NCSL
2. NCSL
3. I am very curious if anyone got offers already for the NAL team 2!

Correcting my own response to #2 - I am not sure what U11/12 Green will play in. White should play in NCSL. For Green, am not aware of a “pre-MLSNext Team 2”, so would guess NCSL, but I do not know the answer to this one for sure.

Top team will be in MLS Next 2, second team (green) is in NAL. White team should be in NCSL, though they also showed an EDP icon at the town hall

So then basically on the boys side the new top team (lets call it "Dark Green") will play MLS Next Tier II, which MYS is "positioning/branding" as roughly the equiv of an ECNL team. The 2nd team (Green) will play NAL, which MYS is "positioning/branding" as roughly equiv of an ECNL-RL team. The rest (White, Gold, Silver) will play in some combo of NCSL and/or EDP.

I put "positioning/branding" in quotes because, per the slides, the comparability of the leagues is typically in eye of the beholder.

Correct for U13 and above. And however they brand it, McLean boys does not have a team in Tier 1 of their choose top league (MLSNext 1), where other clubs do. So recruiting/keeping players may be a challenge, as anyone who has aspirations of a top level team will presumably want to move to a club where they have potential to move up.

The way things are going with college recruiting for boys, it doesn't matter what league you play in. Most kids will not get recruited even MLS next tier 1 kids. Just let them have fun playing and add it to their college resume.

You don't need EDP unless you don't have any competition.
