FCPS comprehensive boundary review

Langley and Herndon aren't in the same situation as West Springfield and Lewis.

WSHS and Lewis are literally a few miles from each other and one is exploding with kids and the other doesn't have enough to keep the lights on for taxpayers. Gotta move those boundaries.

Try telling a GS-14 who lives two miles from West Springfield that they are getting moved to Lewis, but that Langley families who live a few miles from Herndon and 12 miles from Langley are staying put.

As for the social capital, most people in the county would either be indifferent or happy to see Langley's boundaries changed. Even at Langley, the people who live in McLean zoned to Langley and aren't at risk don't really care. It's the people in Great Falls who might get moved who would raise a stink, and "taking on" the likes of the Great Falls Citizens Association would enhance the standing of some SB members in their communities.

What does someone's employment status have to do with this discussion?

I'd tell this person that they now get to go a few miles down the road to another school with parents who work and are GS-14s.

I’m in Forestville district and I don’t agree with this sentiment. I fear they will move them but I don’t think any of this is necessary.

The reality is that there is a history of favoritism where Langley is involved, whether it was the pockets of expensive single-family houses carved out of Herndon, Reston and Vienna at various times to attend Langley or Elaine Tholen’s last-minute maneuvers in 2021 to ensure no multi-family housing was assigned to Langley as FCPS staff had proposed.

The new School Board doesn’t seem inclined to continue that tradition, and may even want to reverse some of it, but maybe they just take a pass on HS boundaries and focus on tweaking ES boundaries, which is less likely to get people as agitated.

I really don’t want to deal with the insufferable Langley parents (‚cause those will be the ones we’re sent) at our school. I do hope they get hit by a large karma bus though.

Langley parents with money will use our money and connections (some of us already have😉). The people who stay either don’t have money to be able to avoid it, or will be the minority of families who aren’t as against the move in the first place.

As a two income household with sacrificed a ton to just move into the Langley district to now be told you may be moved out exactly what karma do i have coming to me? Everyone in great falls is not as bad. In fact i have found the community to be so welcoming and nice.

Thank you, I have. I truly hate the people over there. All we would here about is their children who poop unicorns and daisies being unable to cope at HHS while their SES peers at HHS run circles around them academically. We’d need to set up a nursery for those and their parents.
