Probably. But most progressives' judgement is so warped you're not to be trusted. Please reference "a woman is anyone who says they're a women." |
Not a progressive. Again, please use your preferred search engine to search for lists of books being pulled off of shelves in various school districts throughout the country, but noteably Texas and Florida. You'll find LOTS of titles beyond Lawn Boy and Genderqueer, and most of them aren't being pulled due to "gay porn". Unless you think biographies of Malala Yousafzai, Harriett Tubman, Rosa Parks, etc constitute "gay porn"? Or, perhaps 1984? The Color Purple? A Separate Peace? How about "Forever" by Judy Blume? |
Dp- it’s seems many of the these titles are about empowered women. The previous poster seem to want to vilify librarians ( a traditionally female profession) and want to ban books focused on women’s rights, stories, and struggles. This is all rooted in misogyny. |
DP back to help you in your research with a link regarding books that the school board in York, PA wanted to ban from school libraries. This is an older link, but many of the titles are subject to repeated targeting by conservative boards and various right-wing elements. https://thehill.com/changing-america/enrichment/education/572620-students-fight-back-against-book-ban-that-includes-rosa/amp/&ved=2ahUKEwijnoaUiveCAxUGFmIAHYxkAjAQFnoECDoQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1sBpC3qbLuitZHBQ6VIgv1 |
Hey everyone reading this, take a look at this excerpt from Genderqueer and then you can see from the type of simplified drawings in it and the overall tone of the book how ridiculous this obsession by PP and the other book banners is. https://redgoldsparkspress.com/projects/6926504 |
Gender queer is a needed and appropriate book for a high school. Why are ppl so afraid of sex, and in particular, gay sex?
I can only assume it’s rooted in homophobia and a questioning of one’s own sexuality. Signed, A school librarian |
Still doesn't mean your right, no matter your title. |
Of course it is! One of the tenets of fascism is traditional roles only. They don’t want women voting, they don’t want White women working, they don’t want women getting educated. They want rape to what it once was - far more common, with younger victims not understanding what is happening to them and with women keeping their rapes secret for fear of shame. They certainly don’t want women having sex with other women or choosing to abstain from sex at all. And we know for damn sure they want women to have no say in what happens to their bodies - the GOP merrily overturning fifty years of settled law because they hate us as humans and only see a uterus and a vagina. So yeah. The fascists posting on here have to keep obsessing over not pornography like it’s pornography and making sure that no one goes and talks about why they ban books women and critical thinking and gay families. |
If you need the context of the story to understand that it’s not porn, it could obviously be considered porn. (Np) |
Have you actually looked that the book's illustrations? I mean really. Tell me you think this kind of comic drawing can be pornographic. https://redgoldsparkspress.com/projects/6926504 |
Why didn’t you link to the controversial panels? |

They’re what this thread is about |
I think that the panels I’ve seen (read?) from Genderqueer absolutely constitute porn, so apparently “this kind of comic drawing” can indeed be pornographic. |
You'd lose that argument in a court of law. |
If you think those drawings are erotic to any degree then yikes. |
