This is not a good sign.

She has only been the candidate a few weeks. I like that she is thinking things through, doing her homework (vs spouting whatever nonsense comes into her head…like injecting bleach??😳).

I think her vetting process is more than what Trump did with Vance (ie, which involved asking his son’s opinion).

I think most people ... wish he had done it sooner so that we could have an open primary.

Basically nobody cares if there was an open primary. That's a DC Beltway hangup.

No, that’s a Republican concern troll talking point.

Maureen Dowd had a column calling it a coup after she had been calling for the very same thing. Not sure if she's a Republican, but concern troll definitely fits.

Maureen Dowd has been a quiet Republican for about thirty years.

She's a 90s era liberal who is quietly appalled by this generation of progressives. One of many.

whatever - she's been wrong lots of times and honestly it's hard to believe anyone cares what she has to say anymore

this whole "biden drop out" "no it's a coup" thing has nothing to do with progressives, anyway. i don't honestly know what it's about - maybe she and her editor forgot what she'd written before or just felt like trolling the world. it's stupid.

I was at the rally in Milwaukee tonight and the energy was incredible. The arena was full. I wouldn't be surprised if they had to turn people away.

Someone who posted video from the crowd had the Lil John audio playing over it. Were you watching the roll call on the big screens? I couldn’t tell.

It looked awesome.

Yes! We watched the roll call. We took a break in the middle for Walz to give his speech, then went back to the roll call. The technical precision of the end of the roll call and cutting to Kamala walking out was excellent. She delivered her remarks to the convention and then did her speech to the rally crowd. It was an incredible experience. The energy was palpable.

The 2024 Democratic Party platform makes 20 references to what they propose for "President Biden's second term."

Couldn't a simple CTRL+F have easily updated this for Kamala Harris?

No, PP is a normal person. It’s JD who gets a tingle when he gets a Room and Board catalogue in the mail.

Oh, please. Spare us your hysteria over progressives. Dowd has ALWAYS been overly-critical of the left and tepid towards the decades of racism, hate and chipping away at institutions/voting, on the right, because per usual, she's that ivory tower, media-type who was never affected by right-wing policies, so she doesn't have the capacity to understand the dangers, and treats it as such.

A kid on campus protesting tax money going towards the massacre of over 100K people, is not the threat. The draconian hellscape being created by Leonard Leo, Kochs, McConnell and others for years, to decimate democratic institutions on behalf of very few, is what is actually the threat to this country. She's antiquated. She has no real insight at this point. A 90s era liberal is limited in how they view the world and too arrogant to see it.

I’m excited for her. I’m going to vote for her. I never watch the conventions. Why would anyone spend their time watching those?

Agree! The RNC and DNC are enemies of the American public. Only a fool couldn't see that. They'll never get a dime of my money and I certainly won't help their TV ratings by tuning in to see a bunch of political speak by bought and paid for politicians. I may vote for Harris but I'm far from gullible enough to buy into "supporting" any candidate funded by the RNC and DNC at this point in time.

Count me as one! But guess what? I’m voting for Kamala. And thrilled to do so.

Maybe if Republicans ever got their act together and put forward a reasonable candidate who actually wanted to solve problems they’d be able to attract middle of the road Democrats.

But as of now, Republicans disgust me. I am at home in the Democratic Party. It’s a huge tent. There are all sorts of us in it.
