TJ's college placement isn't what it used to be either, especially with the top schools.

I’m not going to read the TJ list, nor any but a couple of the others, but back in the ‘90s a friend of mine attended an accepted student event for Princeton and there were eight TJ kids there. That is impressive. That said, I agree with those who would prefer this thread to be limited to what it was originally intended to be, DMV privates.

The high-end publics, and the NYC and Annapolis elite schools add perspective and enhance the private school information because of that perspective.

The “high-end publics” are sending the majority of their 500+ seniors to state universities—and a wide range at that (in terms of quality). That’s not perspective I need nor value.

Relevant information is always helpful.

I can confirm the posts upthread that say the Sidwell CCO no longer makes calls to colleges on behalf of students. This practice has ended. People that still cling to the belief that going to a high-priced private school gives a substantial college admissions advantage are very sadly mistaken. If anything the lower GPAs in privates hurt admissions chances, and, no, the colleges are not "intimately familiar with the rigor" at various high schools.

Was it ever really a thing? If so, when did that "era" and?

Have you looked at some of these Instagram pages? It is definitely a thing still but for schools that it did NOT used to be. That’s the difference! Field - 6 ivies last year? That is something new and I don’t mean that as a put down.

I am surprised by the above statement. Maret’s results are on par with other schools (NCS, Sidwell, Holton), but I fail to see the “especially impressive” part.

Maret has less work and grade deflation than NCS or Sidwell (average GPA is around 3.7 vs 3.5 at NCS)

Is this confirmed as true? That is much higher as 3.7 is the cut off for many colleges. Friends who worked in admissions for colleges even admit this.

How do you know this? Do you have kids at both????? I barely know the GPA at our kids school but have no idea about other schools except that I hear they are higher? For reference point, can people add the average GPA for their respective schools?

Maret 3.7
