Looks like a new Gaza war has started

Only pro-Israel statements will not be attacked. It is interesting the similarities between the pro Israel crowds political techniques and those of the RWNJs like Breitbart, Redstate, Alex Jones, etc. One could call it a seamless transition. I wonder how many of the right wing bots are actually run from Israel?

How do you know that he was not targeted because Israel had information about him being involved in something? Also, why are you so one sided? Don’t see any posts by you about the atrocities that were done to Israelis.

Plenty of people are posting about the atrocities that were done to Israelis. Nobody is posting about this child. Sadly I am not surprised that you would find a justification for the murder. Israelis could literally kill a child in cold blood on video and you would excuse it. Oh, that's exactly what just happened.

Show me the pro-Israel statements in protests that should be attacked.

Jeff parachutes into the thread to post things critical of Israel. He has more than once posted things that turn out to be not true (the hospital bombing being by Israel and Israel targeting a church). This situation I do not know because the video doesn’t have a lot of information attached to it.

I posted about the church explosion at the same time Netanyahu's social media guy was taking credit for it. Both of us had to retract our posts, but I think I have a better excuse than he does.

Why do you keep saying that? All the evidence points to Israel using a thermobaric weapon. Most of the western media have agreed it was Israel. The church, refugee convoys, schools, the border crossings with Egypt, etc all targeted and hit by Israel. These are all precision ordinance with video. So these are not mistakes just a terrorist campaign against civilians. One day god will judge.

What? Thermobaric weapon? What are you talking about?

I don't click on videos of either side's suffering, but do we expect the next few weeks to have no casualties? I don't mean to be cold hearted at all--but wouldn't that be an absolute a cease fire? Again, I didn't watch the video so maybe you can explain for those of us who don't want to be permanently scarred by visuals what you think it shows, and how it is to be avoided in the current war?

First of all, this took place in the West Bank which is theoretically not at war and which, of course, didn't elect Hamas. Nevertheless, settlers have been running wild and Israeli soldiers have been staging raids. Over 50 Palestinians have been killed reaching the point that Biden even spoke out about it.

According to B'Tselem, an Israeli human rights organization, Israeli troops entered the refugee camp and clashes broke out. Taha Mahamid, a 15 year old, is shown in the video in a fairly well-lighted and open area kind peering down the street when he is suddenly shot multiple times with no warning. His father was also wounded. 13 residents of the camp were killed, including 6 minors. According to B'Tselem, some of those involved in the clash were armed, but neither of these two appear to be. According to the first tweet, Taha's sister was filming him to tease him.

Hamas could literally cut a pregnant woman open and kill her unborn baby and you would NEVER post that. One sided, like I said.

As I said, I wouldn't have to because someone else would beat me to it. But, unlike you, I wouldn't post an excuse for it.

Thank you, how horrible for his sister and family, and how sad. I agree settlers who are illegal should be removed. As part of any two state solution, that kind of behavior needs to stop. I also have read from reputable sources that Hamas offshoots are but one of a few militant groups that have also 'set up shop' in the West Bank (https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2023/10/23/israel-arrests-palestinians-west-bank/). For this reason I also understand Israeli troops entering refugee camps to address this. If clashes break out, it gets bad fast?

That is hard to watch and listen to. His poor sister and mom.

That’s heartbreaking.

For reference, I am the poster with the war refugee family extended family who posted earlier about not being able to unsee the videos that Hamas posted. I’m not going to be able to forget this either. It is awful.

This is after waiting nearly two weeks to take a stand on the hostages, while simultaneously taking an immediate stand on use of white phosphorus.

Maybe the “documented evidence” is faulty?

A significant percentage of the evidence reviewed came directly from Hamas’ own channels.

For instance, the widely-seen slow beheading of the Thai farm worker with a garden hoe came directly from Hamas.

I find the silence from HRW completely inexplicable.

If find your continued lying about “silence from HRW” to be completely inexplicable. They indeed released an analysis of the footage and declared it a war crime: https://www.hrw.org/video-photos/video/2023/10/17/israel/palestine-videos-hamas-led-attacks-verified

I explicitly talked about silence from HRW about the evidence provided by Israel to journalists on Monday 10/23 of human rights atrocities. The link you posted pre-dates the evidence session provided by Israel. You must be deliberately misreading what I wrote, specifically to hide the fact that HRW has been silent about the presentation of evidence gathered. There has not been anything written about the disclosures made to journalists, although they were extensive and detailed.

Also, even looking at the link you provided — which doesn’t address my initial point whatsoever — it talks about validating four videos. Four. That’s it. We know there are hundreds of videos (HRW even says as much) but they have only validated four of them.

Are you taking the position that is a reasonable position for an organization focused on human rights for all (at least in theory) to take?

Yes, it is 100% reasonable for an organization that does high-quality analysis to take more than *three days* to analyze footage especially if they don’t have access to all the metadata. It is also 100% reasonable for a nonprofit to not redo work it has already done. HRW has *already said* that 10/7 killings and hostage takings were war crimes. To expect them to keep on writing additional reports on every new piece of evidence is unrealistic.

Your vendetta against HRW is frankly strange and extremely counterproductive.

I can look at exactly what the organization has done and not done, and where it chooses to spend time and where it chooses not to spend time, and draw my own conclusions. You just don’t like the conclusions so are attacking the messenger, but the hard cold evidence of organizational priorities is there, as much as you pretend it isn’t.

I’m not the only one taking note of the disparity in treatment.

That boy’s death should never have happened and it’s absolutely tragic.

Hamas does have presence in the West Bank, as well as areas of Lebanon and other places in the region, including Doha.
