What's going on with FCBEscola NOVA?

So we signed up for tryouts and missed it due to issues at work. Interestingly enough, we still got an offer. How competitive can a club be if my kid got in without even trying out.

Thanks, was making a comment not a question. Always wondered about tough guys behind the keyboard, $20 says you don't have the chops to call anyone a moron in person. Would welcome that any day.

$50 says you didn't read any of the thread prior.

There are way too many trolls in this 104 page thread to believe you. For which team did you get the offer?

The tryouts turnout looked pretty low so your DC was probably given an offer to fill out the numbers on one of their ODSL teams. Nothing to worry about unless your kid is a high level player.

Question for Barca families, specifically the 09 program. We tried out and am interested in joining but I'm confused about league play for them next year. I've been he would be placed on a team that would either play in EDP or ODSL (Big gap, but that is besides the point). What wasn't clear was if would start in the Fall or Spring. Any idea? I've heard both.

Just email Barca's general email and ask for clarification. This season U9 teams did not play in any leagues.

I would assume the league play would start in the fall. Barca joined leagues late last year and that is why there was only spring representation.

So you don't know which league you would play in? Why would you agree to join if you have no idea what they are selling you?

Oh brother.

If your kid is good he will be in EDP if your kid is not good he will be in ODSL.

Because their sales pitch isn't based on what league they're going to play in, it's based on the training they provide. As part of that, they say they will try to place teams where they can get competitive matches.

That won't be enough for everyone, and that's fine. If league placement is that important to some parents (and clearly it is, based on the number of "which league is better" questions posted on this board), Barca is probably not the right fit.

But they've always been very clear on what they're selling, and what they're not.

Actually, they have some poor quality players on some EDP teams and some good players on certain ODSL teams. Overall, the gap between their A and B teams is huge, but there is some spill over in quality of players that goes both ways. I would not stress out about the league in younger ages, but if your kid is older, you don't want him or her get stuck on an ODSL team.

Or put another way. There might be some bad players on a EDP team but there are no good players in the ODSL. Either way your team won’t really matter
