Watch how fast the parent asks if their kid can play on their grade B team when they find out the lower level A team isnt going to happen. |
No. They. Shouldn't. We don't force kids these kids into the older grade -- they are given flexibility to do either, based on their abilities. |
People talk like this is Kindergarten social groups play-dates Tell your kid this is how the real world works and what they will face as adults The cutoff has changed to 8/1 and this is your new age group. Go to training and put in the work or be a quitter |
It is better in the sense that far fewer players are affected. The chaos stinks for those kids who are misaligned but they ultimately have more development/team options than other players. Think about it. |
Guess you missed last month where basically all the clubs said kids should play on age unless super stars. |
Yep, and clubs will have to face the adult reality of fewer customers if they manage things poorly. |
You do what clubs and leagues say to do, play in your age assigned group. You are inventing convoluted solutions for problems that only exist for you and your daughter. |
Your sense of entitlement has removed all objective logical reality from your mind Imagine seriously thinking your kid should be on a MLS Next team because of their birth month and demand this of a club |
It's a zero summer game. There are winners and losers. Early birth months kids have been the winners for years and now aren't. Nothing unfair about that. And players shouldn't feel they are entitled to stick with their toddler team their whole lives. That would be crazy entitlement but par for the course in the DMV it seems. Switching older teams asap is needed. |
Nothing is being invented. Below are the facts. 1. Play on a team with players your grade and your friends in school 2. Don't have a weird 9th grade where you play HS soccer but the rest of the team is in 8th grade. These are the reasons Aug birthdays should play on a team thats their grade. 3. College recruiting will be 1000% easier |
No ambiguity, clubs have said playing on age will be the status quo. |

They fixed 98% of the problem just by returning to 8/1 - 7/31. Things will be better. Trying to get the final 2% would be forcing grade year and it would cause more problems than is solves will being convoluted and unenforceable. Relax, it worked better before under SY and will be better. |
So we live in Texas where the start date for school is September 1, and our club said that playing on age will be the status quote EXCEPT for August birthdays who they will give options. So if you're an June birthday hold back, thats your problem, you'll play with the grade above, or an October birthday who started some random private or home school early, thats also your problem you'll play with the grade below, but if you're birthday is in August and you started school on time, then they'll have a discussion. |
You are pretty deep into a hypothetical looking for a solution to a problem that won't exist. Kids play on age and best play up. |
