For chrissakes, by January nobody is into the current team---but looking for options or worrying about the following year already.

Tryouts get pushed up earlier and earlier and cloud the entire spring season.

So find a team that your kid is excited to play in and where you don’t want to leave by January.

You are missing the point. Tryouts in early May when seasons end in June. Everyone is already checked out long before. Next year is all anyone on this board talks about come January.

Correct, there is NO U12 ECNL age group.

Happened to our team last year. We didn't win as much as anticipated by certain parents. They weren't happy with it and that lead to their child not being happy...3 players were totally checked out by mid-April. They quit on their team.
At this point those parents and their players were toxic to the entire team. Some couldn't wait for them to leave the club.
Note to parents out there: Your kid isn't going to be great at anything if she/he don't learn to deal with adversity.
Fast forward to this year...the team is doing well and the ones that left, well you can guess...

It is only DA that holds ID sessions this soon and that is to get the earliest look at kids. Loudoun and VDA ECNL clubs will also follow suit because they are changing or adding the league. Kids then either make or don't make DA or ECNL teams and those kids have time to hook on to other teams in a normal time frame. There is no reason a CCL or NCSL team needs to hold earlier tryouts, so all you are seeing is some extenuating circumstances as they apply to DA and ECNL clubs only.

Don't understand why someone would do this? They wouldn't get their money back nor find another team so why not just finish the season? And 3 players? Are they the top players in the team?

PP here. I meant they figuratively quit on the team. They were not the best players on the team.

If it is a good team that’s likely not going to happen. “Everyone” is not already checked out.

But that is the issue isn't it? People "check out" when the team doesn't do well.
Whatever happened to working harder and resolving the issues? Not anymore I guess? Take the easy way out, quit and move on.
There are some circumstances where I guess it makes sense.

Correct, there is NO U12 ECNL age group.

Thanks, why does MYS's press release say this...

Beginning next fall our current boys U12-U19 Green teams will be ECNL or pre-ECNL.

It says U12.

Sounds like coach's job, doesn't it?

U13 and above is ECNL

Things would be much different if they really cared about how to best develop players...USSF should come in and set underlying rules on how to organize leagues to serve players instead of clubs.

They did. It's called the US Soccer Development Academy.

Some kids find out they have been demoted or cut out-right or moved up by mid-May---yet the season runs until early June. That is always tricky. The spark is lost by then. It also shakes up the team.

You also have kids missing a lot of May practices for tryouts elsewhere. I agree that Spring season is an after-thought a lot of the time. Even the Club is already looking to September.

Does everyone allowed to play DA?
