We're still relatively new to travel (2nd year doing it and 1st at VRSC) and our team has had 3 or 4 in guest kids showing up to a practice these past couple weeks. Is that normal? Are kids added mid year? The coach and manager haven't said anything. |
These players could be from another team at your child's age level. Ex. our son plays on his age level black team but there are a couple of players on the gold team that couldn't make their teams practice time so they practice with our team. They could also be players that have requested an ID session and the coaches have them coming to your child's practice to conduct their ID session. This doesn't necessarily mean they will be on your child's team, if the coaches feel they should make a team they will decide which one after watching their ID session. |
They are absolutely still adding players mid season. It's a great way to get onto a team before spring tryouts. The coach and manager won't make any formal announcement when they add a player. You will see it in the app when you view the roster. Most new players added now won't play until the spring since it takes so long to get the uniforms. |
My child played rev last year and year before. We joined from a winter supplemental tryout the season before. We have heard rev would like to move away from the singular tryout, and let kids practice with team a few times to see how they fit. Def reminds me of the way fcv used to have tryouts for U littles. |
Their adult league refs aren’t getting paid tho |
Couple of things: It's StrongArmed.. not Armstronged. A Outside clubs are not getting training time - individual player are The INDIVIDUAL players are looking to switch clubs and will NOT be free. They will pay their portion of the club fees. It's always been like this and always will be. They will not be free. You are spreading falsehoods for drama. You shouldn't hear anything from the director at this point. Kids can try out a club midseason - they may or may not make it and may or may not choose to leave their original club. Why say anything to the team now - they are just coming to a couple practices. No news. And they don't have to tell the parents anything. You need to go back to bed. |
we had new kids at my daughter’s practice. loudoun rec season just ended, so these are the kids thinking about making the jump
to travel. |
OP to the random kids at practice:
Thanks everyone. Makes sense. Our old club never had this happen so I didn't know what was going on. |
Yes, kids can be added anytime. Most find out how bad their coach is and looking to make a move mid season. In some cases there's no charge until new season comes around because old club. Ripped off player with bad coach. If your kid is on the margin, the new player may take their spot. |
Maybe this is why they’re not top of the league? |
This is just your opinion. Have you ever observed a training session? My child has received excellent training, especially the past two years. take your hatred elsewhere. |
Not affiliated with but VRSC but it has to be stated nobodys facilities match up to theirs and I would assume the trainings and development at least approach the high level facilities |
We're happy at VRSC. And I think my kid is in a good training environment. To the hater - name the club where you take your kids "for the training environment". Isn't this why we don't play rec? |
They can't. Their kid plays for a kick ball and knock over the other team methodology club. |
Or they keep the ball for 75% of the game, take 2 shots, get one goal off the scrum from a corner kick while claiming they dominate games with posession football. Kids get awesome at playing one position, with one foot, can't dribble out of a wet paper bag; and get comfortable making a series of predictable sideways or backwards pass as their contributions to a soccer game. Its awesome for like 2-3 field players usually somewhere in the middle of defense or midfield, goalies thrive though, so winning! |
