| Lots of players on this Max lists do not have USA accolades. The player needs to “prove it on the field” in some way whether than be from high school, club, or USA. Yes, some players do get pushed along heavier than others, but it is rare that a legitimately good player gets overlooked. Especially because there are so many things Max takes into account while deciding. Recommendations, film, accolades, word of mouth… etc. |
| So classes are also stronger than others which can mean you need more accolades some year than others to make the Max list. |
It is not rare. Sorry, it's not. Max doesn't comb the FH players nationwide to make their rankings. You have to know it exists, apply, and then they rank them. Some of the best players I know (who are d1 athletes) were never on that list. |
Also false. And i say this as the parent of a Nexus Champion athlete who was recruited. MANY girls get recruited without NEXUS (which has its own failings). |
| Nexus has gone to shit. |
| Yes I know many athletes go D-1 without making Nexus, that's not what I was saying. I was saying it is rare for MAX to put a player on their top 100 list if the player did not make the Nexus championship, because MAX thinks that carries more weight than dominating some crappy high school league. |
Rare? I know several. Some who never even made it to selection camp. Nexus moves along, and picks for the championship, the same people every year. Sometimes a few others break in for a year or two. But, while Nexus is good for some training and some exposure, I'm really not a huge fan of it (and I say this as parent of a kid who made it to selection camp every year and went to the Championship-and did well there). For one, unless your D1 committed by junior year, they prob aren't moving you on. And for another, the (mostly D1) coaches push forward their commits. Coaches are . . . pretty upfront about that. Thus, NEXUS is HIGHLY politicized. |

MAX appears to at least be tryng to improve. They are FINALLY going to release updated rankings based on growth/player development:
"In the past, we have just done Top 100 Players to Watch for freshmen year and Top 150 Player Rankings for sophomore year. To reflect the development of athletes from their sophomore to senior year, we will release Final Top 150 Player Rankings for the senior class for the first time ever this late spring/early summer. We are only accepting player recommendations for the Class of 2026 right now. Future classes (2029 & 2030) will be available starting in the late Fall." |
Yeah, but it is still "opt in." They're not combing the country to find the best. They find the best from who applies (which presumes they know about it and have the ability to apply). |
And once a player commits many will not care about being on the list. Some players simply won’t take the steps to be considered. |
