Her coaches always let the players choose instead of assigning. Maybe I should talk to the coach? I just don’t want the coach feel I am helicoptering.

I would not. If she goes into a role that is hard to fill she might end up stuck there and will never get to play her preferred position. It would be better to let her play where she wants than to quit.

I’m notionally watching how local teams are doing. I’m a little worried it is going to be hard for kids to get back home with the weather.

One thing to consider at a showcase is how your player does against higher ranked teams. While your team may not win, your player may have played exceptionally well.

If you are in Alexandria/Arlington AVA Magic is great program on paper or if you are lucky enough to be placed on cliquey Purple squad. Purple gets committed coaching, player development, team bonding, tournaments, travel, and team parties. If you're on the B and C teams its rec. level babysitting at best. Because of this lopsided dynamic-lots of girls and parents crash out of this program and the sport. Shame. You're basically funding the Purple program. Check out The James' programs or Fairfax area.

Of this group, O'Connell had more players than any other high school. Clearly, that coach knows who to pay.

And, take what you will from this, 9 players on this list were from Hussel Club.

She 1000% pilfered all her players from other teams, mostly from the club that was Husel. And also funneled them to the Wolves. And she promotes the sh-- out of them, with great success, whether it's earned or not.

Yes the MAX list is all about promotion. It's a BS list which college coaches don't pay much attention to. There are girls on the national team that didn't make that list! And girls committed to UNC, Northwestern, Duke, UVA, etc. that were not on that list. NEXUS, Selection Camp, National Team, etc are more telling - that's when coaches actually get firsthand looks at the players. MAX just goes by expectation - who is "supposed" to be on their list

Her job is to get these kids noticed/recruited and she is doing just that.

I’m not sure how I feel about Max. Seeing some of the players on the list and where they rank and then seeing some not on the list at all is baffling to me as someone who has actually seen them play a significant number of times. Max may never have seen them play but is using achievements and recommendations. As someone else alluded, some coaches are better at promoting their players, which maybe inflates their rankings.
