Looks like a new Gaza war has started

The article I read said it's a knock-out gas. Not a deadly chemical weapon. I am not saying one thing or the other, but it seems like people are assuming it is an agent that would kill someone?

Here is the source of the rumor. I am not sure Arab sources are all that knowledgable about Israeli plans:

The article I read said it would be a way to conduct urban warfare without impacting a lot of civilians or infrastructure. We don't know if this plan is true, or psy ops, but it is the furthest thing from chemical warfare as far as the article I went. Is a sleep agent that wears off chemical warfare? I mean, I guess I don't fully know all the rules, but why is that worse than bullets and bombs?

It’s not. The list of banned chemical weapons is specific.

Of course, if Israel does use it, I fully expect people on this thread to claim they’re committing a war crime.

I assume the PP shared this so we could all chime in about either gassing Jews or participate in some good old Holocaust inversion.

What I found interesting is that people want Hamas to be removed from power without hurting Palestinians in Gaza and leveling Gaza. This seems like a way to do that. I would never in a million years have thought of this, but I guess that's why there's planners and advisors. Or maybe it's psyops. But doesn't it seem like a way to avoid civilian casualties? Isn't this a good idea if real? My only worry is some of the hostages are really old. Who knows the effect this would have on them . But they are in harm's way no matter what in a rescue scenario unfortunately.

I am far from an expert on this but thinking about the amount of gas required to fill miles of tunnels that are probably not air tight makes this seem pretty obviously impractical.

It seems far fetched to me as well. Unless special forces went in, and released it in smaller amounts when closer. Something like that.

As a nerve gas (I think) would a gas mask be effective? I would assume Hamas has many. Or does it come through the skin? Surreal to be wondering about stuff like this.

Well, if history has taught us anything it’s that poison gas is an effective way to kill people.

I would bet anything the hostages are in the tunnels, and I can’t imagine a worse scenario than Israel slaughtering their own citizens in such a gruesome way.

Gas makes no sense. When Chechen rebels took hostages in the theater in Russia, Russians pumped the theater full of gas, and along with the terrorists many hostages died from asphyxiation.

Also, it is just a rumor.

Egypt flooded Hamas tunnels with wastewater.

It seems like psyops. Special forces are amassing. We're invading tomorrow, or are we? I think they'll send in Special Forces for the hostages. They LOVE rescuing people. Then the wastewater or whatever if Hamas doesn't surrender. This kind of plan is actually really good news for the Palestinians up top in my opinion. Hard for Special Forces--dangerous--good for everyday Palestinians. They could consider themselves being rescued as well if this is the approach.
