And there you have it.

This is not about being pro-Palestinian rights and freedom. This is not about grief for the suffering of Palestinian civilians.

They don't want pro-Israel protester to exist.

I dare anyone to find a group of students at a mainstream American college who support Israel saying they don't want the Palestinians to exist, and they don't want the pot-Palestinian protesters to exist.

Shut it! Israel in its current form should not exist! There you have it! It is not antisemitism, it is not anti jewish. The state of Israel in its current form is a cancer! The world and jews would have been better off if Israel never existed. The creation of a Jewish state in the middle of the Arab world not only represents the continuation of European colonialism in Palestine, it has also consisted of the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and the establishment of an apartheid system by a rogue nation that has repeatedly violated international law.

Given this history, the repeated claim made by the United States and other Western nations that Israel’s military actions are merely acts of self-defense contradicts the reality on the ground. Surely it is the violence carried out by people forced to live under a violent illegal military occupation and blockade that should be considered an act of self-defense. After all, the French Resistance to the Nazi occupation of France during World War Two is viewed as a heroic struggle for national liberation. In stark contrast, Palestinian resisters are labelled ‘terrorists.’
Despite the best efforts of the United States and other Western governments as well as the mainstream media to portray Israel as the victim in this conflict, the numbers make evident who is doing most of the killing and who is doing most of the dying. The fact that a people forced to live under an illegal foreign military occupation are portrayed as the aggressors constitutes a stunning example of Orwellian doublespeak.

Sweet tantrum! And the quiet part gets said out loud.

Congratulations, you’re a terrorist.

And if you need a primer on the differences between Hamas and the French partisans of WWII, lmk.

I mean, labels are pointless at this point. Bibi is a terrorist, too, and anyone who supports him is a terrorist, as well. The fact that he stumbles around in a poorly-fitted suit with a smirk on his face, while his dirty work is being done by the great-grandchildren of settlers from places like the Ukraine and Brooklyn, using subsidized US weapons and technology - yeah, that doesn't absolve him at all for his share of foundational blame here. Unnecessary loss of life is tragic, wherever it occurs. That means on 10/7 and for 115 years prior, and certainly for the past nearly three weeks.

I support neither side in this lopsided battle over sand and oil. Spare me the talk of holy lands ...

But above all else, stop trying to bamboozle others into thinking the State of Israel was formed by peaceful, indigenous settlers who were just looking for a friendly welcome wagon greeting from their new neighbors. Wind the clock back another 40 - 50 years to get up to speed on why we are where we are today.

Yawn.
What is reality. It is important to live in reality. The independent, existing, nation-state of Israel, isn't going anywhere. It exists.

Yawn ...

Who said otherwise? Who argued otherwise? The post you responded to didn't argue otherwise.

Look, you can play the smug card all day long, but at the end of that same day, you'll still be supporting a people who believe themselves - in the year 2023 - to be chosen above others. Chosen. Special. Better than others. Just typing and seeing those words in print ... it seems disturbing, no?

Anyway, fairytales just don't do it for me, so more power to you (and your delusions, I guess).

I'm a Jew and have literally never heard a Jew refer to him or herself as "Chosen". But I have noticed that Jew-haters like to use the "chosen people" moniker from the Bible to say that Jews think they're "chosen".
Reminds me of the Christian fundamentalists who insist that people get offended by "Merry Christmas" when it doesn't actually happen, it's just something they make up or grossly exaggerate in order to rile themselves up.

I’m Jewish and agree. I can’t remember ever hearing it mentioned during services or anything.

Or just suspend the disbelief for a minute to conduct a google search. That belief is alive and very, very well embedded in the State of Israel.

Your anecdotal views don't change anything. I've never seen a Hamas militant so much as shake an Olive Garden breadstick at an Israeli citizen, so certainly they must not have been involved in the events of 10/7, right? I also never stepped on the moon myself, so that didn't happen, as well.

Excuse me what?

The individual(s) challenging the existence of the "Chosen people" moniker and underlying belief system are being blown out of the water by facts. That's all.

DP.

Not involved in that irrelevant side discussion, but that’s not how it looks from the cheap seats.

Oh, really? Peer-reviewed studies containing surveys "looks" to you to be an inferior argument to "I've never heard that"? Guys, we've found a true SME here ...

Nah. Arguing about “chosen people” looks to me like a diversion from the germane issues.

Specifically, it looks like a diversion from your prior posts, which were roundly (and rightly) mocked and condemned.

Find solace where you can, I suppose.

Conflationary dreams do come true.

Feeling "chosen" or "saved" or "potentially saved if you do certain things" is very common to many world religions including Christianity and Islam. It's kind of funny to me to point it out with regard to Judaism and/or Israel, which shows far more tolerance than many of its neighbor states to people of other religions.

Raised Catholic, have experienced a majority of the sacraments, have never once heard ANYONE associated with the Catholic Church refer to the Catholic flock as chosen or special w/r/t the divine.

I'm Catholic and my mom and church services refer to salvation all the time. This is pretty innocuous stuff. And it's just a religious sentiment. The only people who wield it over others are fundamentalists, and it's kind of funny to claim most Jews/State of Israel are more that than many of their neighbors. Like haha funny.

Vile.

The left used to be the hippies who wanted peace and had love-ins.

Now they love to riot, incite violence, harass people, support terrorism, loot business, destroy cities.

This is not winning me over to the Palestinian cause.

It’s sad that it took this for people to realize it’s there.

I was talking about it 30 years ago when I wasn’t even 12. It’s all out there now.

The good news is that this will destroy the credibility of the far left for a generation.

It’s their Charlottesville.

No, I really don’t think so. The extreme left has effectively controlled most of academia for so long.

Reminder: a note found on a Hamas terrorist instructed the terrorists to behead Jews and rip out their hearts.

That’s a helluva lot of hate.

Adorable tantrum. Well, the founder of algebra, which lies at the root of every one of those (subsidized) inventions, was a Muslim.

And now we're really f*cked because we can't use essentially anything invented since the Middle Ages.
