Why can't we be both community-centric and competitive/development-centric? Its not either or.
Not even sure what community-centric means? I guess we have cookouts and fundraisers, but that isn't a big focus. |
I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear. We have very few girls players and teams. We have more age groups missing teams than we do having more than one team. How is the academy supposed to help the girls program? If you’re not familiar with our few white teams on the girls side, there’s little focus on their development. When I say “community-centric”, it’s not about cookouts, it’s about being more about community than it is about development. “Being good citizens” as the townhall described I don’t know how the academy is helping the boys side, but I don’t think it was arranged with the girls in mind. |
Talent isn't there if your looking for competitive centric. tf you chose to go that route your looking to recruit outside families from surrounding clubs. Community centric is fine but you must understand you will still lose your top players to competing clubs. It is what it is and sometimes you need to read between the lines and make the best decision for your player. |
Okay. That hasn't been our experience so i'll take your word for it. |
I presume you have DS with two or more teams in his age group? How has the academy worked? The training together, how many times has DS played on red squad, do you know if academy coach has seen white squad, etc? If I’m wrong please tell me, just want to gain perspective of somebody’s positive position. |
| will LMVSC still be in CCL for 2021-2022? |
Let me shake my Magic 8 Ball.1st attempt says not likely. Attempt 2 says don’t count on it. |
We have our doubts but technically we're not even in it despite being a red team. NCSL spring division brackets just came out; we have ONE team in Division 1 (2008 girls red) and only two teams in Division 2 (2006 boys white, 2005 boys red). The remaining teams are in the middle of NCSL or the bottom divisions. I'd like to know before tryouts. If we're not in CCL for the entire club (boys and girls all age groups), I think those rumors of LC leaving will not be the only ones. I think all of these young coaches will wish to leave, especially because so many players will leave as well. |
I also noticed this went unanswered, which doesn't slow down any rumors. |
| I would vote yes they will remain in CCL. As far as I know (and I could be wrong) the requirement is to have your 1st team playing. Not sure it actually says you have to be competitive. I think that is one of the draws to join the club is saying you play in CCL. |
My kids aren't with LMVSC but I wanted to share that, if you tell someone that you kid plays in CCL and that person is impressed, that person is not someone that you need to impress. That person doesn't know S about anything youth soccer in DMV. |
Thank you for your vote. The requirement is not being fulfill since five red teams are playing in NCSL. As far as being competitive, yes you kinda need to do that too. Thank you for your opinion of draws to join the club for playing in CCL, let's review results: W/L/W ~~ GF/GA/GD ~~ place in table CCL Standings (boys) U12: no team in CCL U13: 2/2/4 ~~ 9/12/-3 ~~ 9/18 U14: 2/5/0 ~~ 11/19/-8 ~~ 13/18 U15: 3/5/0 ~~ 8/17/-9 ~~ 10/18 U16: no team in CCL U17: no team in CCL U18: 5/8/0 ~~ 19/32/-13 ~~ 10/18 U19: 3/8/2 ~~ 23/46/-23 ~~ 6/10 CCL Standings (girls) U12: 4/3/0 ~~ 14/13/+1 ~~ 8/18 U13: no team in CCL U14: no team in CCL U15: no team in CCL U16: 5/5/2 ~~ 17/19/-2 ~~ 8/18 U17: no team in CCL U18: no team in CCL U19: no team in CCL |
Your kids aren't with LMVSC but you wanted to share "Okay. That hasn't been our experience so i'll take your word for it."? Am I reading that correctly? |
The significance of this information is there is currently one girls team for LMVSC playing 11v11. The U12s are entering 11v11 next season and won't have enough players to get to a safe size; they will end up playing NCSL just like the U14 girls red team, U16 boys red team, U17 boys red team currently are. As far as the efficacy of the academy for development, this is really only for the boys (seeing as most girls age groups only have one team). The result so far for boys development (year 2 under LC) is a negative scoring differential in every age group. The players I'm sure are doing their best, but the club is not putting them in the right environment. I don't understand why there is no discussion to play in CCL Championship. It's still CCL, so the lure is still there yes? |

I'm not sure I've seen anyone ever talk about CCL other than in the context of what it's not (i.e. not ECNL or DA etc).
One of the pros of CCL IMO--and this is just from reading their website and how they say it operates--is all your CCL teams will play all the CCL teams of the other club on the same weekend. If you have multiple kids playing for your club it is really beneficial for managing your weekends instead of one parent driving to Maryland while the other is driving to Fredericksburg or something. For those in CCL does this really happen: all teams from one club play all teams from the other club on the same weekend? It also probably fosters a good bit of team unity and a level of inclusion that many other clubs may not be able to replicate because teams are all off doing their own things once the season begins, whereas CCL everyone is united in competition against the same opponent. |
