Please consider the repeated efforts you and others have made to get answers to your questions and ask yourself if you really think a new TD or coach is going to make any difference. Conversely, if your child is happy with their current coach and you are not worried about the competitive level of play and paying upwards of $2K - $3K per year, I suggested you accept LMVSC for what it is and let your kid enjoy a slightly more competitive environment above recreational soccer. With that said, please keep in mind, where these issues become more critical is when your kid(s) moves into older age groups and real conversations about recruiting and playing in college begin. If you're entering into that phase, I strongly recommend you look at other clubs in the area to assess their track records placing kids in college programs. Particularly for the girls, there is money for school if they're recruited. Some money exists on the boys side but it's significantly limited. LMVSC - at one time - did promote its success getting girls into college programs; however, that has diminished significantly. If there are no teams at the older age groups and/or the older teams are not competitive enough to attract talented players who make other players better, there will be fewer and fewer players moving on from LMVSC to college programs and the entire travel program will continue to devolve. Thus, if you choose to look at the amount of money you've invested in travel soccer over six, seven, eight years or more as nothing more than opportunities for your kid to hang out with friends, play a sport at a conveniently located soccer club, and you're not worried about the competitive level of play, by all means - stay. If, however, there is an inkling of desire for your kids to play in more competitive environments and consider playing beyond high school, do your homework and look at the track record of other clubs in Northern Virginia to determine if they're are options.
Well-written, thank you. I had sent a question to clarify what the program’s intent was; fun, community-centric environment or competitive development. I asked because it felt presented as two sides, LB’s focus on LMVSC family and LC’s focus on the academy style direction. I was further confused since several of the age groups, specifically on the girls side, is unable to do the academy style training (one team being too old, many others appearing to have only one team). My question wasn’t responded to, and I expected to eventually find out. I believe I have, and that answer is LB and LC have different visions for the club. This is a little worrying because apparently that is why EM left; and with rumors of LC leaving it’s making me wonder “oh geez what next?”
And I think you are right for what’s next; diminishing return on my investment for DC to play collegiately.
