This is a predictable, and solveable, problem. Health care workers don't get their PPE from Home Depot. Hospitals and doctor's offices buy the PPE from suppliers, who can certainly prioritize sales to health care first. |
As of yesterday 110 people were being tested -- so it's now down to 97 but the number of cases hasn't risen, leading to the conclusion that 13 more tests came out negative. Small area of good news. |

Although to be honest, every pandemic simulation I'm familiar with had hospitals running out of PPE by week 4 of the outbreak. |
The hospitals in Hubei have been short for days already. |
this guy is negative for coronavirus. according to the news here in CT |
New data has come in from Hubei province where Wuhan is located.
1032 new cases there and 37 deaths today. This brings totals for mainland China to: 7087 cases and 169 deaths. There are another 99 cases outside of mainland China. These could rise as data for today comes in for the rest of China. |
Can we ask Germans what is their trick because they seem to have their test results back like .. fast.

This. If our ER and first responder staff must go down to the local Home Depot or CVS to buy N95 masks for duty, something has already gone terribly wrong in our system. That said, allowing a jumpy (and sometimes armed) populace to take solace in duct tape or masks is not an entirely bad idea. People who feel even marginally safer are likely to be less impulsive and paranoid. If there’s no widespread “wild” cases of the novel coronavirus, then the people wearing masks are not at increased risk of it. And they might actually spread less influenza since Americans are really bad about sneezing and coughing in public. Plastic face shields are still in supply for medical personnel. |
They were right at the register at the local home depot near me ![]() |

She SAID she didn't show symptoms. Because she'll lose her job if she said otherwise. |
Still on track. February looks scary. |
