Yes. You don't have to do it, whether or not you decide to press charges.

Dis she consent to it or was she unconscious? Anyone know?

No one knows for sure whether she consented to being fingered. Based on eyewitness accounts, she was passed out drunk and was unable to giving consent to being dry humped.

So by your logic he could have taken her purse, watch, jewelry and pierced her cheek before the swedes arrived and his word that she had agreed to all of that would suffice, wouldn't be appropriate to question further simply because there wasn't an eyewitness?

Well, people hook up and engage in sex acts for a reason. And certainly most hookups are consensual with both people wanting to do what they are doing. I think that Emily Doe likely engaged in sexual activity with Brock Turner. Neither one of these people were sober enough or knew each other well enough to accurately gauge the level of drunkeness - not just of each other, but of themselves. They underestimated just how hammered they were.

All of that violent stuff that you mention would be unwanted no matter what. Not the same thing.

Bullshit. You don't get to assume her consent in one situation and not another. And, btw, most women I know would be far more likely to consent to giving someone their watch than having some sniveling jackass's filthy (literally filthy and covered with dirt and pine needles) hands shoved inside them with such force as to cause abrasions.

Wow, unbelievable. I hope they go after the other swimmer who sent that message to the extent they can. If he got a picture that night and didn't come forward he is also a dirtbag. As an aside, what a loser Brock was. Apparently he had no game and was so insecure, truly pathetic.

You are offended by the disgusting location behind the dumpsters. I agree with you - that is not a place that most women (or men) would want to fool around. The idea of laying down in those pine needles that party goers had very likely peed and puked on...hey, I'm with you. That is disgusting. That is beyond gross. But Brock and Emily Doe did end up together behind those dumpsters and there is no indication that she was dragged there. She walked with him. In fact, he said in his statement that she led him there. Hard to believe but you have to realize that this girl was drunk and probably did not want to be seen by her sister sucking face with this guy (just a guess). One thing led to another, he touched her with dirty gross hands, she probably touched him with her dirty gross hands. She wound up passing out. And Brock was seen humping her passed out body.

Both of these people were out of control drunk that night. That isn't an excuse for Brock touching her passed out body. But it certainly explains some of the extremely bad choices that they both made.

If the facts were different - if he had carried or dragged her to that location while she was passed out and proceeded to assault her that would be a much more serious situation. But it really does sound like she walked there.

She had lacerations and bruising inside of her. He likely sent a photo of her breasts to a friend. She was completely unconscious while he was on top of her. He tried to run repeatedly when found. The witnesses say he wasn't even slurring his speech.

Sounds like just your average drunken hookup to me!

Someone was seen taking pictures of her but I don't know that it has been established that it was Brock or that the picture being talked about in his "group" was of this victim.

It does seem like a really odd coincidence that this picture was being talked about on the night Emily and Brock met. If he was really taking pictures of her like that, it does add a level of depravity to this whole thing.

It's also possible that someone else from the party took the picture not realizing how serious of a situation it was - so many people seemed to be walking by this poor girl. And no one had the decency to cover her up or get a woman from the party who would have covered her up and been there for her. Sad.

I don't understand who this Blake Bolton witness is. When did he supposedly see Brock standing over the victim while she lay there unconscious?

I wondered about that. Did he just see that, shake his head and walk off? No investigating, no help? And when was this? The timing was pretty tight, and Turner's estimate of 5 minutes for the entire encounter sound about right.

It says he went to check on the victim and Brock walked off. So, did he come back then? Weird.

I think it makes more sense that Brock was tackled by the swede and the man standing over Emily was the other swede who was in the process of checking on her maybe using a light of some kind? Then the guy walked off to help his friend and then this Blake Bolton guy was there alone with Emily.

It makes me want to scream "Throw a blanket over this girl! What is wrong with you!!!"

Even if she walked there, it doesn't mean she was planning to hook up with him before she passed out. Maybe he told her he'd help her find her sister or some such bullshit to try to get her alone. Walking there doesn't mean there was consent at any stage.

They had already hooked up..they were kissing/dancing and then they walked behind the dumpsters where they wouldn't be seen.

Or she walked behind the dumpsters to pee and he jumped her. Only trouble with that theory is that she would have screamed and tried to get away. I think there were enough people around that someone would have noticed that. Plus I think that there is evidence of them inside dancing/kissing beforehand.

Here's your rape culture in bold print. This is how the rationalization works in a rapist's mind.

So what if it didn't work with 10 other women. Finally got a score because this one right here wants it. She hasn't said no.

This thread has been talking a lot about what to teach daughters. Parents should print this out and show it to their sons.
