No surprise here.

I don't dislike it. This scenario will upset the least number of people.

The least number of UMC people.

I will be curious to see how many parents send their kids to Carson for AAP in the next several years vs keeping them at Franklin. I will definitely call out the massive hypocrites who put their AAP kids at Carson to split them away from our "close rooted community" after demanding that we be moved to Franklin.

The AAP parents will send their kids to Carson and you know it.

HYPOCRITES
I bet in three years they'll be crying because all their kids friends are going to Skyview.

Absolutely this.

Are there any loud rich neighborhoods who didn't get what they wanted? I can't think of any.

I am not a Westfield parent, but I'd be screaming about this.
I'm not a Brookfield/Chantilly Mews parent, but I'd be screaming about this.

The rest of this is acceptable, I guess. Fox Mill really should be at South Lakes, but I don't begrudge this under the circumstances. They asked for AP twenty years ago and were ignored. So, Meren can blame herself for this.

If I were a Crossfield parent, I'd be disappointed.

The Westfield parents on here said they were being ignored.

They have no RIO or FairFACTS Matters to speak up on their behalf. The School Board has decided they are low hanging fruit and that their school is expendable.

Its hugely problematic to fill Stone up to the gills (with mostly low income areas) and make it the ONLY feeder to Westfield. Stone has a building capacity of maybe 900 students. Westfield has a capacity of over 2800 students.

Anonymous
Stone has a capacity of 861 students.
They made Stone the only Westfield feeder, even though Westfield can fit more than 2800 kids.

They refused to move more kids to Westfield b/c they cited new construction. *All those kids will also be zoned to Stone.*

These people are disingenuous.

They really did the Westfield pyramid dirty with this.

Moving the Chantilly Mews kids to Stone instead of keeping them with their ES cohort for MS is nasty.

Stone's going to have a 75% FARMs rate after these changes.

So instead of finding more kids for Westfield, they decided to just stuff Stone to the gills and make Stone (a small building) the only feeder middle school to the largest high school building in the county?

That's idiotic and frankly insulting to the County taxpayers. If you aren't willing to make some people unhappy with a HS move to use FCPS resources properly, stop asking me for bonds.

So Stone will be at 98% feeding to a high school with a thousand empty seats, and Liberty MS, the other Centreville middle school, will drop down to 78% capacity. And Rocky Run, a beautiful renovated school, will only be at 84% capacity.

Make it make sense.

It is outrageous!

They had to kick the poor Brookfield kids out of Franklin to make it the "Oakton feeder" middle school.

The Stone building is the smallest middle school building in the western area. By far the smallest. It is the size of an elementary school.

Stone can't logically be the only feeder to Westfield. The numbers don't work, in any reasonable universe.

If enough people move into the Westfield zone to fill up Westfield, Stone will be grossly overcrowded.

I didn't realize stone was so small but yeah, looking at the capacity for all the nearby schools, it is much much smaller than everywhere but Franklin (844).

Stone-capacity 861
Liberty-capacity 1100
Rocky Run- capacity 1132
Carson-capacity 1385
