What % have tattoos? |
No idea. But we should definitely make a law that says if you have a tattoo you don't qualify for SNAP. |
Because if you have money for tattoos, maybe you have money for food? Naw, that’s asking for too much sacrifice. |
| Some people give themselves a tattoo. Other people have friends who put them on. Not everyone goes to a parlor or spends a lot of money on them. |
| Maybe we should have government subsidies for tattoos, since they are apparently a necessity. |
| I think you should have to have a BC implant or IUD to be on food stamps. |
Probably about 95% of the white maga recipients between the ages of 18-65. |
|
Some people even got tattoos years ago and then fell on hard times and qualify for snap now. Weird that people are fixating on things that are not necessarily indicators of people's current level of need.
In a country like ours, nobody should go hungry. I can't imagine any person of genuine goodwill actually disagreeing with that statement. What is going on in this thread? |
I am sure the religious right would love that rule.

Trump announced the White House will not abide by the court order.
The thing is, in urban and relatively wealthy areas, people are picking up the slack, making donations etc to the food banks. In rural areas, where most of the MAGA SNAP recipients live, those support networks are harder to come by. |
I think 95% agree with that statement. I certainly don’t want anyone to go hungry and support programs (public and private) to feed people. However, I also believe that every individual is responsible for using their best efforts to feed themselves and their dependents before turning to government or others for assistance. Obviously, many do and others cannot due to disability, age, etc. They should absolutely be supported. But there’s also a portion of people (of all demographics) who don’t make that effort and/or persist in making awful life choices. The entire dispute comes down to how to deal with this group. |
That’s just not true. Less than 10% of recipients are White. |
Or maybe you don’t? If 2/3 are on for two years or less, isn’t it highly likely the tattoo preceded the receipt of benefits? I can’t believe I even had to argue that. |
That's not true. Some far right xenophobic group saying otherwise doesn't make it true White: About 35-37% Black/African American: About 26% Hispanic/Latino (any race): About 16% Asian: About 4% Native American/Alaska Native: About 1-2% Race Unknown/Other: About 17% |
Well this is why no one lets you make these decisions. |
