The Montoya-as-legal-advocate-for-supply-chain-safety-of-medical-marijuana = dope-dealer-who-wants-pot-in-our-schools trope is really over the top. You're as bad as the one here who screams that right-wingers are so subhuman as to have no business even considering a run.

The real problem with Montoya is that the only experience she has to recommend herself as a BOE candidate is that she has been PTA president for NCC ES for a few months. That's not good enough.

That PP to whom you replied.

Not all BOE members need to have decades of education-related experience to represent the public well. Having too many from the inside can result in myopic group-think. Critical thinking skills and an outside perspective can bring benefit where domain knowledge is not terribly deep, as long as one brings an open mind to the thoughts of SMEs who might fill in where helpful, being careful not to be ruled by that which the SMEs provide. A vision and understanding of the interests of the electorate can be just as important.

For what it"s worth, Montoya is an attorney, and might provide input from that angle as well as utilize associated critical thinking skill. Some may also find that not to be enough, but saying her legal education & practice isn't part of the experience one might consider for her is a bit off.

Montoya is the Apple-approved candidate, and is now an insider. The teachers union works to support its candidates, and candidates are grateful and influenced, understandably, by this support. There is no vision, just power flexing and influence.

I agree with some of that, but not all. While I expect there is an amout of insider-ism related to teacher agendas (and possibly other politically aligned groups) with the Apple ballot candidates, to varying degrees, I don't think is it quite as contolling as might be implied, there. Certainly, there have been Apple candidates who, when later serving on the BOE, contend with the wishes of MCEA on a number of issues (salary, time off, training burden, etc).
Some of them lose endorsement the next cycle.

I also don't think that the vision Montoya laid out is particularly lacking versus that of other candidates, though it is, of course, somewhat different. They all could stand to arrive at something better, but, at this point, it's a little late in the primary cycle for that.

No, that's not how it works. Arguably she will be an insider IF SHE GETS ELECTED. But right now she hasn't even made it past the primary yet.

M4L endorsed Fitzgerald Mofor, Diaz, and Mandel.

Mofor has no kids in the school system because he isn’t even married.

Diaz is Diaz

And Mandel doesn’t even have kids in the school system.

Everyone will be wasting their votes on these three.

Kim is an vote for me too. She does have a website btw. https://www.melissaformontgomery.com/

7am-8pm. As long as you are in line by 8pm, you can vote. The polls will remain open for you (I'm an election worker)

That is how it works - the influencing has already started. The teachers union knows that voters are persuaded by the unions' endorsements for BOE. The union works hard to get their candidates elected and they work hard to make their slate a cohesive group, and one that listens to the union. Montoya and Zimmerman in particular will owe their seats to the union if they are elected.

Why not as much with Laura Stewart? I don’t think most of the county knows anything about her work as head pta person but will sure learn about her when they get that bright red apple ballot union card with her name on it outside the polling place

Laura Stewart does what ever Jill orders her to do.

Some of these candidates did they even campaign? Do they think they have this Win?
Anonymous
Montoya spent most of her time in smoke filled back rooms (from her weed smoking) cutting deals with certain union officials. It’s all about contracts, not students. A vote for the apple ballot candidate is a vote for no change and for more corruption.
