Washington Post article about Former Farquhar Administrator

Oh don't worry we are. We are also making g the public aware of systemic corruption in education simultaneously. Teachers are super heros and we don't mind educating the public and talking nonchalantly about the profession mismanagement and abuse that is ubiquitous in districts like mcps.

I don’t understand teachers that complain so much. If it’s that bad leave…

Many have left. Same for other positions such as special educators, para educators, school counselors, and school psychologists. Conditions are so bad that it’s also difficult for MCPS to fill vacancies.

People speak up to fix problems. They leave when they give up. As someone who lives in Montgomery County, I would like the public school system to improve with a focus on educating students rather than have staff give up. The most important staff are the ones who actually work with students. They should be respected and listened to.

Typically when there is a principal search, MCPS makes a big production of choosing a parent committee to provide their input on the candidate. For my children, there have been four such principal searches from elementary to high school.

I would be interested if the investigation looked into this part of the selection process. Our community has grown to suspect that the parent input is a shell game by MCPS.

The director chooses which parents are on the small parent panel. MCPS narrows down the selection pool for parents to interview. Finally, they individually gather input from each parent so there’s no transparency as to the community priorities and whom the panel is actually putting forward as their choice.

MCPS makes a big show stating that they collect input from all stakeholders but the reality may be far from the truth.

I have been through this as well but I don't necessarily think that it should come as a surprise. Yes, the committee seemed to ignore parent feedback during the principal selection process. In the same way, many organizations allow junior or mid-level staff to sit on first round interviews, but those folks know they can easily be overruled by the final interview panel.

There's always a hierarchy, and this is not the hell I would particularly choose to die on.

This man was responsible for our children, you ostrich. Get your head out of the sand.

Do you have any proof of this or is this just some other made up anecdote?

First of all, so did his victims.

Second of all, the conversation at this point has moved beyond the individual acts of wrongdoing by a single individual. The more important issue here is the systemic breakdown of mechanisms meant to keep predators out of positions of power. We have to examine how those safeguards broke down, in the hopes of protecting staff and students moving forward.

Sorry, that was meant as a response to the person who said he had kids and we should move on.

I don’t understand people with your perspective. The good ones do leave. And where does that leave us?

DP. Certainly many teachers have left the last few years. But it's not all "the good ones." There are a lot of good teachers still teaching our kids.

MCPS moves bad administrators all over the place. The Chief Financial Officer for MCPS was moved to OSSI to be Director of Farquhar Middle School after two administrators in the Transportation Department were arrested for embezzlement.

Diamond? Didn’t she leave before transportation skimming was discovered?

Google Damascus High School. The principal did not report crimes to the police as per the law and instead of being fired she now was moved to Central. Soooo a promotion for doing a poor illegal bad job.

The district knows that teachers are disgruntled and have personal vendettas.
