Yes. At least delayed for at least 10 days. Possibly forever.

Judiciary Committee has 12 GOP and 10 Dems.

It’s now tied 10-10 with two Senators out for multiple weeks. It’s unclear to me if new Senators can be assigned with a resignation/death of an existing Senator.

All depends on the Senate rules.

Theyre not dead, just incapacitated, thus they can't be replaced (or at least wont be).

No, why?

Of course it is. 80/20 the nomination does NOT go through.

https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/916453.page

Her nomination may be blocked by the Herd Mentality of Senate Republicans putting too many of them in quarantine.

They can vote in quarantine

That isn’t the problem. The Senate Judiciary holds weeks of public hearings for every nominee. The GOP Senators are falling like flies and they’re not going to do it over Zoom.

Doesn’t matter what happens with the committee. They do not have the votes right now and they cannot vote remotely, per Senate rules.

They changed the rules

I can't imagine he'll die. He's getting the absolute best care.

Yes, even if he is in fact seriously ill, he's odds of survival are at least 90 percent. But he is also likely to be too sick to work for weeks or even months

He doesn't do much work anyway--can continue to watch Fox News, send hate tweets, and sign whatever papers are put in front of him from bed.

Jesus. The amount of hate and schadenfreude on this thread is sad and unfortunately not surprising given the tone of people recently on this site. I feel sorry for you all. Must be a terrible way to live. I don’t like him but love our country and for that reason I hope he is ok and recovers.

I don't hate Trump but I do think the country is better off if he exits the scene immediately. I don't care how that happens.

I’m PP and all I will say before leaving this thread for my mental health is that I hope we can get to a point where people can be kind again. What happened to taking the high road? It’s been completely abandoned and it’s dispiriting and depressing. Go ahead and flame me for saying we shouldn’t take pleasure in POTUS having COVID. I don’t mind it and wish you all the best.

Joe Biden pulled his negative ads.
Joe Biden gave a unifying speech today.
Donald Trump sent out a divisive and misleading fundraising email this evening.

YMMV

People are people, not saints. Because we are not saints, evil, manipulative leaders like Trump can bring out the worst in their own followers. When this happens, it also brings out the worst in the other side, and results in upward spiralling cycles of anger and violence. Which is exactly what we have right now. The only way to stop this is to remove the bad leader from power. A little bit of shadenfreude is not that big a deal, when our country is in the type of trouble we are in now.

Oh BS. That’s some wishful thinking there. If he’s like most people with COVID, he will be absolutely fine.

He is in the hospital. Most people are not hospitalized.

+1. People generally are only hospitalized if they’re showing significant respiratory distress. Either Trump’s symptoms are worse than he’s letting on, or he’s having a complete anxiety meltdown over the diagnosis and wants to be hospitalized even though it’s not medically indicated.

He was hospitalized because his doctor advised him to do so. We know you thrive on drama, but stop spinning fiction.

If Lee and Thillis (and Barret supposedly) are to quarantine for 14 days, that is, checks calendar, Oct 15. The hearings are supposed to start on Oct 12. If any more GOP Senators get it or, god forbid, are debilitated, McConnell won't even have the votes.

The Senate will need to adjourn for campaigning before the election, so it is entirely possible, if Schumer does some parlimentary tricks, this gets pushed to after the election. The ACA case is supposed to be heard on Nov 10th, and the GOP wanted her seated for that case. Seating her after the election, if the Senate loses the majority on Nov 3, will be an albatross the rest of the senate carries til they are voted out of office.

He doesn’t have the votes now. Remember Collins and Murkowski said they wouldn’t vote for a nominee right now. So he only has 49 votes.

Completely agree. These ghouls are circling like the vultures they are. How disappointed they’ll be when he finishes his quarantine without incident.

Do you remember Trump talking about Hillary's pneumonia in 2016? My how people forget things.

Am I the only one who is not thinking like that? This is a virus that can progress rapidly. To me, it makes sense to have him in the hospital regardless. This is the president. They are not only going to move him there in an emergency, they need to be taking every precaution to keep him safe

Exactly. They would do this for any president. It’s the “abundance of caution” they always take in cases like this. Just like the SS insisted on taking him to the WH bunker when there were protesters and rioters outside the WH. They always make sure the president is protected.

Oh you mean like having him wear a mask? No — they can’t force him to take precautions.

Where did you read that?

The PP is lying. That wasn’t one of his symptoms at all.

Jim Acosta tweeted that a Trump advisor told him this. Take it however you want.

What specifically is "weakly" and what has he done that you would not have expected? Go to the hospital?

If Comey can testify on video from home, the Senators can vote in the same damn way.
