POTUS and FLOTUS have COVID

Is this putting ACB in jeopardy??

If Lee and Thillis (and Barret supposedly) are to quarantine for 14 days, that is, checks calendar, Oct 15. The hearings are supposed to start on Oct 12. If any more GOP Senators get it or, god forbid, are debilitated, McConnell won't even have the votes.

The Senate will need to adjourn for campaigning before the election, so it is entirely possible, if Schumer does some parlimentary tricks, this gets pushed to after the election. The ACA case is supposed to be heard on Nov 10th, and the GOP wanted her seated for that case. Seating her after the election, if the Senate loses the majority on Nov 3, will be an albatross the rest of the senate carries til they are voted out of office.

He doesn’t have the votes now. Remember Collins and Murkowski said they wouldn’t vote for a nominee right now. So he only has 49 votes.

I would love for this to be true, but TBH, it seems unlikely that anyone will be sick for 4 weeks to such a degree that they cannot walk on the Senate floor to vote.

Current CDC guidelines are to isolate until 10 days from first symptom and 2 days without fever. It seems likely that both Tillis and Lee could recover in time to vote.

I understand that may be what you want, but if it's not what the Senate rules and procedures say, you might have a problem.

This is hilarious. Jim Acosta is such a tool. As one of the comments says, if Trump had stopped to take questions, Acosta would be outraged that he was being “put in danger.” I cannot stand him.

I can't imagine he'll die. He's getting the absolute best care.

Yes, even if he is in fact seriously ill, he's odds of survival are at least 90 percent. But he is also likely to be too sick to work for weeks or even months

Oh BS. That’s some wishful thinking there. If he’s like most people with COVID, he will be absolutely fine.

He is in the hospital. Most people are not hospitalized.

+1. People generally are only hospitalized if they’re showing significant respiratory distress. Either Trump’s symptoms are worse than he’s letting on, or he’s having a complete anxiety meltdown over the diagnosis and wants to be hospitalized even though it’s not medically indicated.

Am I the only one who is not thinking like that? This is a virus that can progress rapidly. To me, it makes sense to have him in the hospital regardless. This is the president. They are not only going to move him there in an emergency, they need to be taking every precaution to keep him safe

Exactly. They would do this for any president. It’s the “abundance of caution” they always take in cases like this. Just like the SS insisted on taking him to the WH bunker when there were protesters and rioters outside the WH. They always make sure the president is protected.

Yeah, he could be in serious condition, his comorbidities certainly lend to that, but I'm pretty sure they''d do the same thing ig he was 38 and in tip-top shape.

He was hospitalized because his doctor advised him to do so. We know you thrive on drama, but stop spinning fiction.

You are incredibly blind when it comes to Trump. If any body else in the world said, "I'm going to the hospital for a few days" you'd no doubt recognize that that itself is a dramatic event. But because Trump tells you it is nothing to worry about, you think it's nothing.

LOL She can't have a SCOTUS hearing via Zoom. No idea what the influences in the room or in the building where she is being situated is virtually.

Nope. Sorry GOP you've lost this round.

I thought Trump’s eyes looked red compared to Biden’s on the night of the debate. Could have been Covid eye.

Serious question here - ignoring his drafting dodging for the moment - you didn’t have a clue when he was hiding in a basement during the protests outside of the White House?

You mean when the SS insisted he do so? God, you people are the worst - and so transparent.

The SS insisted Trump go to a military installation in the Midwest and stay there. Did he? No. Because a Commander-in-Chief makes the decisions.

It was an honest question btw. I didn't think Trump was an outright coward until that night. I had my suspicions after he refused to visit Covid-19 ground zero (and still hasn't 8 months into the pandemic) but well...

He doesn't do much work anyway--can continue to watch Fox News, send hate tweets, and sign whatever papers are put in front of him from bed.

Jesus. The amount of hate and schadenfreude on this thread is sad and unfortunately not surprising given the tone of people recently on this site. I feel sorry for you all. Must be a terrible way to live. I don’t like him but love our country and for that reason I hope he is ok and recovers.

Completely agree. These ghouls are circling like the vultures they are. How disappointed they’ll be when he finishes his quarantine without incident.

Do you remember Trump talking about Hillary's pneumonia in 2016? My how people forget things.

No, no one forgot. The point is he was wrong then and you are wrong now. Not complicated. But keep at his level if you wish.

Sorry - the SS insisted BUSH go to a military installation and stay there on 9/11.

He walked over the graves of 200,000 dead Americans like it was nothing. I'll happily keep at his level.

I don't hate Trump but I do think the country is better off if he exits the scene immediately. I don't care how that happens.

I’m PP and all I will say before leaving this thread for my mental health is that I hope we can get to a point where people can be kind again. What happened to taking the high road? It’s been completely abandoned and it’s dispiriting and depressing. Go ahead and flame me for saying we shouldn’t take pleasure in POTUS having COVID. I don’t mind it and wish you all the best.

People are people, not saints. Because we are not saints, evil, manipulative leaders like Trump can bring out the worst in their own followers. When this happens, it also brings out the worst in the other side, and results in upward spiralling cycles of anger and violence. Which is exactly what we have right now. The only way to stop this is to remove the bad leader from power. A little bit of shadenfreude is not that big a deal, when our country is in the type of trouble we are in now.

+1
He has caused so much suffering. It makes sense that people are happy he's been taken ill by the disease he dismissed and allowed to kill so many Americans. It's not great to enjoy someone else's suffering, but when they've hurt you directly, it's human nature. Sad to say. We're all flawed. Only God is perfect.

You want anonymous posters to be better than the leader? What happened to "lead by example"?

You reap what you sow. That's also in the Bible. He is reaping the consequences of hubris of not wearing a mask and thinking covid was nbd.
