I don’t know what case you are talking about but the mom in this case is Korean and the dad is British.

She’s talking about the Canadian woman married to British quasi-royalty who appears to have perhaps shot a Belizean cop that appeared to have been selling her coke or doing coke with her or something or that nature. And British dude kicked her to the curb faster than you can say HRh. And we all learned a bit about corruption in Belize.

Sort of agree but instead of saying attractive I'd say "regular." As in, they look like any random couple in my NW DC neighborhood. Young. Fit. Educated. Two earners and just one kid. Treat their animal like another person. They appear like any half of the parties I see walking in Rock Creek Park.

But instead of some enjoyable stroll in the woods, which any small family like this would do here on a pleasant/warm day, here they were in Death Valley making stupid mistake after stupid mistake and winding up dead.

To me it's sad but more importantly a real reminder to be prepared at all times for an emergency.

I am a mom of 3 and a fed. Not a medical professional. But I have taken First Aid/CPR at every opportunity and on my own taken courses in Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness EMT. I have an evacuation bag in the coat closet by our front door. I have packets of emergency water at home and in the car. I never would have any members of our family go for a hike without an abundance of extra water, energy snacks, charged phone, and mini first aid kit.

Everyone, this is a reminder to have yourself and family prepared for emergencies.

This wasn’t a natural disaster. This was a personal choice by a family to participate in an ‘extreme’ sport with deadly consequences.

I don’t consider this any different from the yearly accidents of kids who die after speeding around on quads. Bad choices ending in bad luck.

I wasn't saying it was a natural disaster. What I'm saying is that anyone and everyone should have basic First Aid/CPR training and think seriously about how to prepare for emergency in any situation. Whether you are an outdoorsy person regularly taking walks or a city dweller who avoids the outdoors. Everyone at a minimum should have emergency evacuation supplies at the ready at home and think twice about what necessities to bring on any outdoor adventure.

You are the idiot. They moved from a city to one of the most beautiful areas of the country for a lifestyle that was far superior to what they had in SF. I will wait to read what the cause of death is before I judge their choices.

This case haunts me because it doesn't make sense. It bothers me. Like others, I question why they did it in the first place. And how did a short trip become a nightmare? I feel like this could have happened to me and I need answers. I have been a hiker for decades, and now that I have a family it's become one of our favorite activities. Despite that, I had zero knowledge about heat stroke and how quickly it can act. So I'm thankful to have learned so much about it. But I'm waiting on someone to put the pieces together so I can understand the how and why. Hopefully the toxicology reports can shed some light.

It's been a dream of mine to live at Yosemite. It's my favorite national park, if you've ever been there you understand. It's breathtakingly beautiful. I've also lived in San Francisco, so I understand why they moved away. It's been 14 years since I moved to northern Virginia. And from what I see in the news the city has been in decline. It's not what it used to be.
