Thank you, I totally agree. This is no longer a debate. There are a few people that angrily attack anyone who disagrees with them and call names. It's not worth trying to have a discussion when it's like this. Eventually the only ones posting will be the angry irrational attack dogs, and the thread will no longer be any fun for them with no one left to attack. |
Duggars wear short skirts? Since when? |
Well, we know that the abuse happened, because Josh admitted it. We know that he received no outside counseling, because Michelle corrected herself and said that Josh had gone on a work program, not a treatment program. We know that the clergy member and the police officer that Josh spoke to did not report the abuse as they were required by mandated reporter laws. We know that the children were all required to seek forgiveness from their church. And of course, we know that the family went on to make money off of their reality show, that they are involved in local and national politics as family values superstars, that they are stridently anti-LBTQ, and that Josh parleyed his role on the TV show into a high-profile lobbying job for a family-values organization that portrays homosexuals as dangerous deviants. So, any discussion of these facts is not "smearing," it's just discussion. |
Let me turn this back around on you. Would YOUR answers be the same if this was, for example, a fundamentalist Muslim family, and it was discovered that a male member of that family had sexually abused multiple, younger female family members, that the family's response was to send him to a mullah, who advised that he pray for forgiveness, that the family then did not report the abuse (which is a crime) to any governmental officials, because they were concerned that their male family member would be exposed to ideas that were antithetical to Sharia law (particularly related to sex abuse and gender relations)? Because I think in both cases, the fundamentalist beliefs related to the issue at hand (who holds the sexual power, who is not permitted to exercise any power, and where the "fault" is determined to lie) are well documented enough that statements like "you have no idea what happened in their household" are naive. Are you trying to excuse what is CLEARLY an abdication of parental responsibility to protect minor children from sexual predators? |
The Duggars are part of ATI/Gothard. That is the ONLY curriculum that is allowed. Also the Duggars have stated exactly how they handled this situation. Try to keep up. |
Her peter pan collar didn't hide enough neck. She was asking for it. |
Her cartoon panties were showing while she slept. She asked for it. |
Hey guys, I feel sorry for this person. They are obviously projecting their own issues all over this situation and its pretty clear it has set them off balance. They continually think they are speaking to the same person. They are ignoring facts. They are dismissing questions being asked of them. I think this might be a painful subject for them. Did you molest someone when you were 14? Did your child? Were you molested? I think you might want to self reflect and see why you would be so eager to vehemently defend a family that belongs to a cult that is not only a hate group but victim shames and treats women as second class citizens who are only good as baby factories. Again, I feel bad for you. Sorry you are taking this so personally. I doubt the Duggars would care one bit about you unless you too were a member of their cult. |
I bet the girls were abused. |
This. And that they are WILLINGLY showcasing their lives on TV. For money. You know, the evil liberal media? Seems to me as though they did pretty well for themselves using the media, until Josh done messed it all up. |
Also Honey Boo Boo was canceled immediately on a lot of speculation. Yes there were photos so she obviously had contact with him, but a great deal of the scandal was proved to be rumor after. The facts were he sexually assaulted her daughter, June didn't handle it well, he served a long prison sentence and June had contact with him when he was released.
It is telling that TLC is dragging their feet over canceling 19 kids and counting. HBB showed a family that were kind of backward and didn't make good choices but they loved and accepted each other and all types of people. They supported, embraced and normalized the children having an uncle who is a homosexual. The Duggars, for all their purity talk sexualize everything. Even so far as the father needing to side hug his own daughters. They talk a good christian game but they have hate in their hearts for their fellow man, which is not at all christian. This is a family who imprisons their children within their own lifestyle choice and would shun them completely if they made choices on their own. They made their fortune on the back of wholesome, when in reality they had skeletons biting at their heels. TLC should have canceled 19 kids and counting withing a day like they did HBB. What the Duggars did is far worse then June Shannon and then add in the hypocrisy and I'm not sure what TLC is thinking. |
I wonder if they considered doing tv show as a way to actually protect the children. Knowing they would have extra eyes and cameras around the house. |
I always thought they must have been sexually abused to behave the way they do. |
If they had handled it in an appropriate manner, it would not have happened again. The police report, which I'm sure you haven't read, details multiple incidents of molestation. Not handling it in an appropriate manner ---> having it happen again = promoting |
Whether or not something is rape is not decided by the perpetrator's age. |
