Theresa seems mature and authentic to me.

Right. That’s why he chose the fittest/thinnest women for his final two.

A lot of the women --chosen by casting/producers-- were thin for their age: Joan, Kathy, April, Faith, Edith, Sandra, Ellen. They were all roughly the same level of normal/slender body types. The deck was stacked.

The article says:
"At restaurants, Carolyn paid her half in advance, and then when the check came, Gerry paid the whole tab, like the big man.

They agreed Gerry was fastidious about cleanliness. In the mornings, she says, Gerry insisted that Carolyn make the bed before she come upstairs for breakfast. "

It's possible they had a very equal relationship and Carolyn WANTED to pay her own way (or they mutually agreed that each paying for their own meals was fair). They don't quote Carolyn saying "Gerry was a cheap-skate, chauvinist, abusive jerk." Carolyn doesn't say those things about Gerry.

So she paid him her share of the meal, and he paid for the total. It's THE WRITER who throws in the subjective negativity "like the big man." That's the THR trying to gin up hatred for Gerry and get clicks. That Carolyn "paid him in advance" could mean that she gave him $20 before the check arrived and then he total paid the check with his credit card.

Re: household chores, again, the truth could be that G and C had a perfectly normal conversation that whoever gets out of bed last should make the bed. So, G gets up earlier and starts the coffee... and their arrangement was that C would make the bed before she came to the kitchen. But, a writer could hear that scenario and twist it to "Gerry insisted that C make the bed before coming to breakfast!"

The point is, we DON'T know Gerry's side, and a lot of the "hit" parts of the article DON'T have any "proof." The article references "proof" that Carolyn lived at the lake house. But, that's not "proof" that he told her she's fat and he forced her to do all the housework, etc., etc.

It's just a SUPER suspicious hit piece that is getting a lot of clicks b/c Gerry is very topical right now.

It's funny that they say Carolyn is speaking up now because she doesn't want to be talked about around Davenport. THEY BROKE UP THREE YEARS AGO! No one is going to be talking about her. It's all very smarmy.

Woah. Friend of Gairy alert!!! I Hate that his name is spelled like Jerry but he pronounces it Gairy.

Joan looks like she’s had more work done on her face??

Yes, not good.

Because of her history, I think Leslie brings the expectation of disappointment . She wears a cloak of sadness, just below the surface.

I don’t know if she wants him because of love or because she think ha he represents her last chance for normalcy.

Theresa is the safer bet, and a better match but I think he thinks Leslie is fun and sexy.

I suspect the daughters strongly favor Theresa (why did Leslie bring up that this would be her 3rd marriage, in their brief encounter??!!)

NP. Joan was the only woman who had as good/youthful figures as the final 2, and she left of her own accord. The other ladies looked older. He absolutely chose the two with the best figures.

Agree with all of this. I feel so bad for Leslie but, man, Gerry is not the one for her. And he clearly isn't feeling it the same way anymore. He can't even say it back now. Ugh.

He's giving up all the laughter and fun with Leslie for a much less fun life with Theresa. But why? I don't get it. I like Theresa, but she's rather dull.

Cloak of sadness is very accurate.

Painful that he has STOPPED saying I love you. She knows.

It plays into her life story (or so, I think she will feel—stuck in a loop! 🙁)

Gerry's not leading Leslie on tonight. He's holding back a lot.

Leslie: "I love you very very much."

Gerry: "That's such a special sentiment."

Uh-oh....not the response Leslie expected

But he is not starting out, building a life from act,

He needs someone who will fit into a fully formed life.

You're over-estimating Theresa's figure. It's badically the same as April. Theresa is not tall and willowy like Joan
