Field hockey clubs feedback

Defamatory statements, lies, and is easily attributed to the person the poster is trying to hurt.

Langley is currently 17th nationally.

Something is off with the Max Preps ranking on that page. A lot of top schools from other states are missing.

The Max Longstreth page is a better assessment. They have a National List and also break it out by region. Langley is ranked 13th there in the Mid-Atlantic region and Oakton is at 9.

Yorktown parent here: congratulations to Langley. You totally outplayed us last night- were better in every aspect and facet of the game.

And this is the sportsmanship our athletes deserve. Kudos to you, OP

All I know is St. James/Jackals was more interested in membership sales. Something they need to work on in order to have a successful field hockey program.

How is the private school field hockey climb to states going to shake out?

Does anyone make the trek to WC Eagles for training? Is their training that much better?

Any other suggestions for good camps? DD is a u12.

I don’t know anyone currently driving to WC from the DMV. A few years ago there was a goalie commuting from Leesburg. They only practice one day a week, you are expected to do other training on your own other training is on your own/privates.

Unless you’re you 12 is a true stand out as in notice that Nexus I wouldn’t make the drive to WC and even then I might wait until they’re a bit older.

Has your daughter played at WC yet? That’s a good indication of whether or not she’s ready for. She needs to go on a Saturday and play their top teams.

They offer camps over the summer. They’re a week long, but you do need to have your own housing in the area. I know plenty of people who have gone to the camps and rented a house nearby.

Their training is better than most however, some other clubs are catching up.

My kid has done WC Eagles camp (agree with others, you need housing nearby). I often see a solid assortment of DMV girls there. Last year I saw five or so girls from both hammers and metro the week we were there.

Any other camps you recommend? College camps? My DD went to Nexus championships I am just not a fan of her current club and don’t want to reveal too much else. Trying to get more more training.

Locally, I would recommend M. Malik field hockey camps/clinics.

@Yorktown parent: Mea culpa. I'm the PP who had Langley as the class of Liberty and Yorktown being down this year. Didn't see tonight's win over Langley coming.

I honestly haven't read the 92 pages of this discussion... For a current 6th grader who has enjoyed her experiences (3 seasons) at Washington Wolves rec, what program would you suggest that might allow her to play in HS. Her older sister (not a FH player) currently attends SJC and we live a block away from the school so that's our target freshman team.

If she is happy no need to move.
