Wouldn't it be smart for Kavanaugh to step down now? The FBI information could lead to stuff that could jeopardize his current position.

Only he knows. But I suspect so. He clearly doesn’t want an FBI investigation. If he’s going to withdraw, he better do it soon.

+1 I posted the question about what happens if the FBI finds out that he perjured himself? Can a sitting SJ go to jail for perjury? What is the ABA disbars him?

I think it is up to Congress to do something about it since it was to congress that he did it.

Correction , pay and/or find more false accusers willing to be a martar for liberalism

Evidence that Ford is a false accuser who was paid?

Likely was a reference to Swetnick, whose story crumbled within hours.

nope, her story is credible. The smear of her background that happened right away has already crumbled.

I know Swetnick. She mentioned she had horrible stories about mutual acquaintances in Chevy Chase...3 years ago to me.

Thank you for sticking up for her. I’m tired of the smear jobs.

I am so sorry for what happened to Swetnick. I believe her. I am so sorry. If you talk to her again, please tell her, REAL PEOPLE are sorry for what happened. And REAL PEOPLE admire her bravery.

You might want to contact the FBI with this important corroborating evidence.

Who do I call? Just the DC office?

Call Avenatti. Then he can trot you out in front of cameras too.

I don't know him. I don't want to get caught up in this mess. I have friends who are both Republican and Democratic and don't want to lose any. But I would tell them that her story was similar three years ago.

I really think it’s dangerous for his mental stability if he doesn’t.

Oh FFS. He is perfectly stable and you know it.
Now if you want to talk about Dr Ford’s mental stability......

ha ha

Did she say names? Because reports are she has an issue with making stuff up.

If that is true, it’s not helpful.

He was ranting. Raving. Evaded questions. She did none of that.

You’re a liar.

LOL! His client had a restraining order against her from a former boyfriend. She sued a company for sexual harassment--and charges were dismissed. She was also sued by the company for fraud.

Other than that, she was three years older than Kavanaugh and Judge--so would have been an adult when she was attending the parties she described--and, who gets raped at a party (as she claims) and still continues to go to them? For that matter, who observes rapes at a party and continues to attend them. Makes no sense at all.

Don't think the background on this "credible" witness will take long.

I believe you should contact the FBI, who is working on all *credible* allegations that have been made recently. It might change everything, since they may not have been considering this particular case to be credible. With your recollection of what she said, this might tip the balance. The FBI will not trot you out on TV.

Can anyone tell us if a witness's name is published during an FBI investigation?

The ABA doesn’t disbar people. Star bars do. But S Ct Justices don’t even need to be lawyers.

I really don't want to get into details here because it will out me. But I was absolutely not surprised by her story as she referenced it years ago. She didn't name names but the context was there.

debunked. With Whelan fired it is so hard to find good PR people to spin this stuff, isn't it?

I suspect if you had the heinous false allegations brought against you, your demeanor would be quite different than your usual “pleasant” self. He was defending his name, his integrity and his livelihood. I thought he should restraint, given the circumstances.

Who really thinks that this BS calling for a FBI investigation will change anything.

So if the FBI clears him, then it will be we can’t vote for him cuz abortion, gun laws, etc.. it will then be another set off issues.

How exactly would the FBI “clear” him? Not turning up anything new would surprise no one, and wouldn’t mean that he has been proven innocent.

He's presumed innocent unless proven otherwise. And I know....I know....it's not a trial, but the same principle applies: you can't prove a negative.

SHE has to prove that he's guilty, not the other way around.

Huh? She does not have to prove anything. She just has to be truthful. Even Republicans found her credible.

So are you saying that an allegation, even if the person making it sounds credible, is sufficient to ruin someone’s career? Do you realize what that opens the door for? She essentially has no corroborating evidence, and the people she identified as being in a position to support her accusation either denied knowledge or outright refuted it. I can’t understand how so many are willing to destroy this guy (or anyone) over an unsubstantiated allegation. I guess I do understand - you hate his politics and/or the person who nominated him.

What? Whose career is getting ruined, exactly? Cavanaugh has a lifetime judgeship, just not at the court he wants. You make it sound like he's about to go panhandle at the corner of 18th and K. He was fine before this nomination and he'll be fine after it. His children will retain their well fed look, I assure you.

I think you should contact the FBI as well. I think they do confidential statements. That is what was said *should* have happened with Dr. Ford. Graham and company were not willing to call in the FBI so that wasn't an option to her.

This isn't correct. Stop spreading falsehoods.
