So what? I don’t CARE what it stands for, if anything. I don’t know a damn thing about guns and don’t want to. The only thing I know is that only the military should have them. If you want to play with guns, join the army. Otherwise no one needs them. Fight with your fists. Or use a knife or whatever. |
| Contee on FIRE in his presser: “I guarantee you he will be no stranger to us.” |
So, the police should not have them? They need to fight hand-to-hand with criminals carrying guns? You really are not living in reality. |
Of course not. Those who fired the shots will have lengthy rap sheets. That is a given. |
Name calling, huh? Wow! That’s powerful! Thank you for acknowledging that your overdetermined views on firearms are completely unreasoned, bereft of factual support and the product of an irrational fear that borders on, and may even rise to the level of, pathology. Thank you also for acknowledging your absolute, invincible ignorance regarding how firearms work, the distinctions between them or anything else about them. For your information. The “AR” in “AR-15” stands for Armilite, the company that originally developed that and other rifles. AR-15 rifles are not “assault weapons.” They are incapable of automatic fire, which is an essential element of anything that might properly be called an assault rifle. As for “cold dead hands,” cf., the response of Leonidas I to the demand by Xerxes I that the Spartans surrender their weapons. You’d be outraged if medical or educational or monetary or any other policy was made on the basis of ignorance and irrational fear, but you feel entitled to control others’ right to the efficacious means of self-defense and recreation on precisely those grounds. Privileged much? |
This argument is so tired because it is politically untenable. I assume you are a Democrat. Do you think your party is going to just say “please” to get these guns off the street? To do what you require would mean more police and locking a lot of disadvantaged people up. Both of these actions are not going to have any traction in the Democratic Party. You just don’t go seizing illegal and even legal guns by saying please. You do so with way more cops and way more people going to prison. |
You are an awesome Republican troll. Keep it up. Hilarious stuff. |
| I will donate money to and campaign for a candidate in the mold of Eric Adams to run against Charles Allen, Brianne Nadeau, and/or Trayon White. Our city needs sensible leadership right now. |
+1 |
White privilege on full display. Cry some more tears of fragility. |
+1 to this. The future of this city is at stake if we don't turn the tide and return to sensible policies that entail consequences for criminals and not setting up more concentrated poverty areas that enable this. They also just decided to raise taxes to give more money to the homeless but not a cent more to help with policing despite a depleted and demoralized force. |
You never miss! |
| What is blatantly obvious is that this is a multi-faceted problem that will take hard work from nearly every segment of society to change. But that's not how America rolls these days. We want quick fixes and sound bites. We don't want to take a close look at our own communities to figure out whether they are contributing to the problems, but we are quick to point out everything else that other communities are or aren't doing. We sacrifice the good solutions for the perfect ones because some group will be up in arms about some aspect of the solution no matter what it is, so nothing gets done. And whatever the solution is, we certainly don't want it to inconvenience us in any way. |
| White privileged going all in on broken windows policing again? |
This is what happens when the pendulum swings too far left. |
