Why don’t Americans give a f*** about what they eat?

Those are obesity rates. Try again with overweight.

Good luck yo your kids.

I pay $$$ for vegetables and healthy meats / fish, and spend a lot of time cooking. Even though I live in MoCo, I typically have to drive to Rockville or Bethesda to find a healthier restaurant.

If I didn't do all this, I wouldn't be able to fit through the door of my house. I haven't had a fast food meal in 10 years, and still I have to work daily to exercise and eat right--and still be overweight.

Um, you do realize Bethesda and Rockville are in Mo Co, right?

So we invented shit like high fructose corn syrup anc microwaves.

Our country is much more advanced but if we tried to feed the whole country on fresh food we would starve. Our supply chain can’t handle it.

Americans probably have more fertile gardens than anywhere else in the world. Instead of growing non indigenous green grass, they should use it to grow some of their own food. Also, if we didn’t pay farmers to do nothing or didn’t grow so much tobacco, it wouldn’t be a problem. We have the land and resources, we just care about being capitalist too much.

Clearly you care less about what you eat than the two thirds of Americans who AREN'T pre-diabetic.

When the analysis is done - I have no doubt that the majority of US Covid deaths will be obese people.

It is not PC to point this out - we don’t want to hurt folks- but the fact is being fat is a killer. All races, ages, male or female - it is a killer.

Sure but that will be a coincidence. Young fat people didn’t die. Death was all about age.

I wasn’t pre diabetic until I moved to the states. That’s the point.

The point people keep making is that when you moved to the States, you made poor choices. Your poor choices were your own. Perhaps you weren't educated about nutrition and this is why you made poor choices. But the choices were your own, and nobody forced you to make them.

Same with many other things: toys are cheap, clothes are cheap. While it’s great on multiple levels, the abundance and excess of stuff create many problems.

I generally agree stuff if too cheap and people get too much of it but I’ve lived all my 50 years in the US and never saw a food fight. It’s like a pillow fight, a panty raid, or a toga party—discussion of each of them far outpaced the actual occurrence. Because they aren’t actually any fun.

Because 90% of choices are bad here and it’s really hard and expensive to pursue good choices. Get it?

Wholeheartedly disagree.

I lived overseas, am from overseas, been in MD since 2011. I did gain some weight. However, I am neither overweight nor pre-diabetic.
I did have to learn that "food" is not food, in many cases here.
Most of those lbs I gained were prior to realizing WTH! Because I had to take my kids to a nutritionist due to some growing issues.
We are all guinea pigs of the food industry and the big pharma. They pay the government and politicians work for them, not for us.
