APS - School Shifts in the Fall?

It looks bad that someone from Mary’s side seems to be trying to dox the person who FOIA’d Mary’s emails. FOIA laws were designed to promote government accountability and the exercise of First Amendment rights, and it is disheartening to see one of Mary’s supporters trying to intimidate people into not availing themselves of FOIA.

Mary’s emails are a legitimate point of discussion in this campaign (even though I’m not personally that interested in them). Intimidation is never an appropriate part of a political campaign.

I'm not the OP, but I think I feel the same way. Mary was above all of this foia drama, even getting ahead of the story until someone foia-ed the first foia. Why would anyone spend money to be petty like that?

Unless they decided to play dirty politics like Turner's friends did. The cherry on top is to post to a troll twitter account that just exists to throw APE under the bus.

Mary's campaign looks bad, no matter if she was directly involved or not.

I'm still not following. How do we know it was someone in her campaign?

Again, I'm not the first responder, and maybe they have a better response.

I don't know if it was anyone in her campaign who owns that twitter account. But I agree with the original poster in that it makes both candidates look bad.

Turner's campaign, because one of APE's outspoken members foia-ed Kadera's APS emails, for what purpose, I don't know.

And Kadera's campaign, because not only did someone else decide to foia the foia on her behalf (again, why would you pay APS to foia someone, it is not cheap), but then to post it to a troll twitter account. It's the APES**** twitter account that's making me think someone is a little too invested in bringing down APE and Miranda Turner.

The only thing that's clear is that someone hates APE so much that they may bring Kadera down with them. And that's sad, because I actually have a lot of respect for Mary.

Huh? That still doesn't make any sense. Anyone can FOIA - that doesn't mean it was "on her behalf".

Now, just for giggles, I want to FOIA the FOIAer of the FOIA.

If you can show it was someone from the campaign, then sure. Otherwise, that is a massively irrational leap there.

You should FOIA the FOIAer of the FOIA.

Maybe someone will? I mean, we're already in the gutters.

We've foiaed the foia. I'm just surprised that APS turned the request around so quickly. When I foiaed a request a few years ago, it took months, and I still didn't receive everything I requested.

Anyone can FOIA, but the real question is why someone would FOIA something just to scoop a story on a Twitter account with less than 15 followers? FOIAs can cost hundreds of dollars. Why would someone outside of Kadera's camapaign's spend that kind of money? In any case, Mary's campaign I think has some damage control to do. If it was a bad actor just making drama, then I hope they do get exposed.

It’s an easy thing to turn around and doing so provides entertainment. I would do it quickly too.

How FOIAs rounds can we get in before the caucus?

No one bothered to FOIA Turner because she hasn’t actually done anything beyond APE.

Not that we know about at least. Maybe you should FOIA to see if someone FOIAed her, just to be sure.

I don’t understand why anyone cares so much about either of their plans for APS return to school. Everyone wants APS back to normal school. But neither of these candidates will be on the school board when that happens. We will be back in school well before they take office. Let’s find out where they stand on other issues. Oh wait, Miranda has no other issues other than open schools now.

The school board cannot make that happen even if she was on it today. Again, it is up to Dr. Duran to decide. He has decided it’s all or nothing for 4 day return so for now it’s nothing.

Hand drawn classroom distancing that looks like it was done by a child? Proposing shift schedules while touting her 'understanding' of the school budget? Being totally fine with keeping kids out of school the rest of this year? No, no, no.

Liar. Kids are in school.

My kindergartner is still home 3 days/week despite virtual learning being developmentally inappropriate and there being no safety reason to keep this model. Why should we accept less than Fairfax and Loudoun are able to deliver?

CDC guidelines say otherwise.

How? His class is already sitting together all in one room with the teacher and assistant.

Where do they eat lunch?

In the classroom.

Our youngest kids should be back full time. If you don't believe that is safe, please understand that you are in a shrinking minority of parents. You can call me an APE (I'm not in that group) or a Covidiot (I'm not) or whatever you want, but the truth is that most teachers, parents, and principals think elementary should be back in school full time. We've seen it done safely in states with far larger caseloads and fewer safety precautions (see the entire south last winter, to my surprise). There's no reason we can't do it here.

So they eat <6' apart? Or do they break out into the two rooms for lunch?

Dear lord do none of you eat at restaurants? Do you think schools are active covid wards? Do you understand that children don’t have active transmissible COVID infections at all times? Please for the love of something call a friend who lives elsewhere and ask if their kid died eating lunch indoors? Or maybe ask your friends who go to cava and eat inside if they all died? JUST STOP also maybe do some research. What do you think the hospitalization rate is for kids exactly? Or for parents? It’s not as high as you think it is. In fact is astronomically low. And recognizing covid risk is not denying its understanding it relative to other risks.

You aren’t running for Student body president or Prom queen...if you didn’t expect to get FOIA’d when you want to run for public office or want to play some victim card because you are afraid of transparency that doesn’t look good. She seemed very rational and nice before her spoiler alert emails. Now I want to know what’s in her emails. That was a lot of spin if you aren’t worried.
