They've been punching down for so long, if you get bent out of shape over a few jabs up you know you're truly entering crotchety humorless old person territory. No, itβs targeting a particular generation. Boomers have always been awful, whether they were 37 or 67. When Gen X is the same age as Boomers now, the same accusations will not be leveled at them, because theyβre not selfish and entitled. Get it? |

How about instead of trolling others here on the "Entertainment" thread on DCUM, you spend some of your time getting educated. Start by reading "The Spitting Image" by Lembcke (a Vietnam Vet BTW) and maybe you will learn something factual about history. Like perhaps it was the "Greatest Generation" who were largely responsible. "Lembcke points out that there were several newspaper accounts of pro-war demonstrators spitting on anti-war demonstrators and suggests that these oral accounts could easily have been reinterpreted and inverted and made into stories about activists spitting on veterans. He highlights the contradictions between the collective memory of today and contemporaneous historical records, like the results from a 1971 poll showing over 94% of returning Vietnam soldiers received a "friendly" welcome. Lembcke also notes how it was older vets from previous wars who most often scorned the returning Vietnam Vets; in 1978 the Vietnam Veterans of America vowed in its founding principle: "Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another"." In any case, you are a pathetic example of a human (no matter your generation) if you think ridiculing people because of age is fun to do. I imagine you have similar sentiments about minorities, women, gender. |

My boomer parents did not lose any loved ones to Vietnam. My husband and I (Gen X) lost many in Afghanistan and Iraq. |
