Rachel Carson is very overcrowded and the principal is overwhelmed and does not always make the best decisions. In terms of redistricting, most likely if this happens it will be the areas of Lakelands furthest from the school affected. Might not be necessary now though as many have pulled heir kids for private/homeschool this year.

Rces didn't have a CES program 5 years ago. The curriculum is the same in regional as in local.

Just saying that it’s not worth using this as a factor for moving into the RCES district. The CES is nothing special. I had kids in both programs.

Let's just replace "Mormons" with "Jews" and see how that sounds. Pointing out that anti-Mormon prejudice is one of the last socially acceptable forms of bigotry in "enlightened" segments of American society.

Did you have any kids who weren’t in a CES (formerly HGC) for 4th and 5th grade in MCPS? The value in having a local CES is that your 99th percentile kid definitely gets to be in a CES rather than maybe getting into a regional one and maybe not. People whose children are top scorers on standardized tests don’t get to choose between local or regional CES. They do get to choose whether they want to take their chances at getting into a regional center from an elementary school without it’s own CES or whether they want to be virtually guaranteed a spot by buying a house zoned for a local center.

Plus I know like two Mormon families at the school between my two kids. Certainly not anywhere close to a majority. What a bizarre comment.
