This is some mean girl nonsense. You shouldn't like or dislike someone based on whether they look like a "used car salesman."

They are uplifting and not really “meaty” but that’s not his ministry or his goal. His goal is to encourage people and make them feel like faith in God is a positive, uplifting thing. I like that, especially when you consider how many people were exposed to a punitive, fire and brimstone type of Christianity. I have heard about the various controversies surrounding him and Lakewood church and they all seem rather manufactured.

He is no different than other snake oil sales men. He is just better so he comes across as genuine. Obvioulsy, people like you are easy sell.

Of all the charlatans, Osteen is one of the worst. He's a thief.

Oh, and remember when Houston was devastated by a hurricane and he opened up his church to those who had lost their houses? No? Neither do I becuase he explicitly said no when asked. What a great Christian. On the other hand, the mattress store guy opened up his store to house people looking for shelter.

Televangelists are garbage. Every last one of them. Particularly the ones from Texas (Hagey, Osteen)

He is a crook, a liar, a hypocrite and a thief. The same people who fall for his bullshi7 also believe trump is the messiah. The man wouldn't recognize Christ if he knocked on his church door Sunday morning. He would likely accuse him of being a terrorist and have him arrested.

I actually like him, too, the prosperity gospel stuff notwithstanding. I mean, he says love your neighbor no matter what. His person of excellence stuff really resonates as well.

it's not what he says that's problematic, it's what he does

Joel Osteen is the kind of leader that scripture warns of, because he never says anything that makes you reflect on your actual sins to be repentant to your Creator. His flowery language gives you a boost of self esteem (which is not a bad thing) if he actually took the time to preach from the entire Bible instead of using one scripture and fillerbustering the rest of the sermon.

He never gets to the meat of scripture and instead provides people with the milk for infants. Many of his congregants never actually read or study the Bible for themselves except on Sunday and just maybe Bible class on Wednesday.

For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. (2 Timothy 4:3)

Then the LORD said to me, “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds. Jeremiah 14:14

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.(Matthew 7:15-20)

OP I would implore you to please look on YouTube and watch videos of people who left Osteen's church and the prosperity feel good motivational speaker congregations. There is a wealth of information out there regarding the behavior of this man and those like him who steal and lie from the people that they are supposed to honestly lead.

“Look, I view my Lakewood Church as my flock, and I look after my flock like a shepherd would his sheep,” explained Osteen. “But the flock of sheep also provides the shepherd with very valuable wool that he then sells to support himself and pay the mortgage of a mansion. So when I ask for money donations, I am merely asking my sheep for their wool. And maybe their kids’ college funds. What’s wrong with that? And besides, my church knows I’m sincere. They come to me for advice on how to be rich like me, and I help them plant their seeds for success by taking their seeds, which are donations to my church or purchases of my books, and then burying those seeds into my bank account to blossom. But they are happy to give! They know I’m 100% authentic, and that I care about them. And though they may be my sheep, they’re looking after me, too. They don’t want me to get coronavirus, and neither do I. Which is why, in this trying time, it is especially imperative that I continue to get cash money donations.”

Well he just disputed everything PP stated in regards to taking money from the church. He specifically states that he takes church donations to pay his mortgage and send his kids to college. Bloop.

NP. Aka your insults and rudeness didn't work, so now you're mad. Yawn

Okay. I'll ask you for a third time. What do you think about the church taking 4 million in PPP? Can you defend that?

What's the problem with that? I'm so confused...

Are you really confused? Come on or you cannot be the simple. I hate this game playing. Think about the restaurants and small businesses that have could be used 4 million dollars. Not a self-sustaining mega church.

Okay... and this is a church helping tens of millions around the world. IMO that's pretty important

And they could have helped so many more if JO wasn't feathering his nest with millions of dollars. How can you go to sleep in a mansion knowing that so many of God's people, God's children, are suffering without a home? Honestly, it is unfathomable to me that people don't see this, but here we are.

Well, he doesnt take any money from the church, so you're wrong. Maybe get your facts straight before spouting your self righteous nonsense?

Wrong. He says he does. The church donations pays for his mortgage and children’s college education

. Eh. Jim Bakker, Franklin Graham, Jerry Falwell, Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggart, Pat Robertson, Bill Gothard, Robert Tilton and Joel Olsten are all interchangeable. People kept them rich. Listen’s she’ll and fall from grace is coming. It started when he did not allow hurricane survivors in his church while other churches in the neighboring vicinity opened their doors.
